  • New Directv Meter For The Advanced DIY'er.

This new Directv Meter was initially designed and built for the experienced Directv Technician; not the everyday subscriber. But the good news is this meter comes with a USB Flash Drive that includes detailed instructions in a PDF File, so if you carefully read the directions, you can use this meter. I am able to understand the meter's functions a little easier, as I have set up and aligned many satellite dishes and multiswitches for years; using different signal meter's or TV Screens. So having some experience will be a huge advantage to using this meter. For the most part, this meter will only be used to align a Directv Dish, not so much for troubleshooting for me. Everything arrived in the box as advertised, I allowed the meter to fully charge overnight before powering it on for the first time. The directions on the USB and website strongly suggest this. I powered on the meter, and the DirecTV Logo came on, as well as the menu's, so it appeared to be working good. I knew the meter was past due for an update, so I followed the directions to the letter, downloaded the update for free, unzipped it to the included USB Flashdrive. But for whatever reason, the meter just didn't like the USB Flashdrive, even after reformatting the drive to FAT32. I eventually used a SanDisk USB Flashdrive, formatted it to FAT32, unzipped the new files to it, and only then was the meter finally able to update sucessfully. The website indicates that you may have to do it this way. After reboot, the new ATT Directv Logo came on, as well as the menus as before; so the meter is working good so far. I haven't tested the meter on anything else yet. I am looking forward to using this meter when I have to relocate the DirecTV Dish off the roof, and realign it on a different post. It shouldn't take too long to get the dish repointed and save at least $100+ from getting a technician called out to the house. Alot of times the technician can't make it out to the house on time, and I can't just blow off work, so this new meter will come in handy for the weekends
