I had a previous one and bought this to replace it, because I thought it was a good printer. There is an apparent incompatibility between WIndows 7 and this printer. I had to hire a technician to finally make it work. The previous printer worked well with XP but I have had problems using it with 7, and from an internet search, so have a lot of other people. So, the printer is a good one and I really like it, but if you are going to buy one, be aware you may have some incompatibility problems with your OS.

simple to use and works ok with good printing. Only negative was ...when setting up the printer...both cartridges were dried out and had to buy new ones

I have had an HP D4160 inkjet printer since 2006. It worked perfectly for the past seven years. It finally began to have problems that could be fixed, but at a cost exceeding that of a new printer. The HP D4160 is no longer produced. So, before purchasing a new printer, a friend recommended I go on E-bay to see if I could find a HP D4160. Not only did I find one, but it was new and never out of the manufacturer's box! The price was right, and the sender sent it promptly. I had it within five days of purchase. I sure hope I get seven years of use on this one. Sincerely, Jim P.
good old time printer that you're not forced to buy OEM ink cartridges for - refilled ones work just as well

I've had this printer for a number of years and it never failed me. It's a well made machine. The only issue I ever had with it is if you buy the manufacturer's (HP) ink cartridges it's like they're robbing you charging so much for a little piece of plastic with some ink in it ($40 - $50 for the two cartridges). Get the ink on ebay. You'll save a ton of money!!!
