I've been an Unreal fan since the original game. I admit, when Unreal Tournament came out, I was disappointed at the lack of a storyline, but the insane multiplayer action dragged me back into this franchise. Unreal Tournament 2003 came out and blew my mind. The graphics, multiplayer, level design, and weapon design were just phenomenal. Unreal Tournament 2004 was a repolished 2003, so I wasn't too impressed, though it did add some innovative things. Unreal Tournament 3 brings the greatness of ALL the games and combines them into a enormous package of fragging fun. I'm a fan of the classics, I love CTF and Team Deathmatch, and this brings something new to the table for that too. Expanding a bit more on their vehicular additions from 2004, battles get even more intense rather you zipping around in a Manta or blasting away with the Goliath. No vehicle? No problem. Everyone gets a hoverboard to help you get from point A to point B just a bit faster. Don't get too reliant on the hoverboard, it's easy to get shot off it, leaving you vulnerable for about 5 seconds. This has all the classics and so much more. If you are a fan of the Unreal franchise or a fan of the fast paced insane multiplayer, this game is definitely for you.Read full review
The good things about ut3 collector edition are the fact that along side with the game you also receive a hard cover book where there is included the various concept art of ut3 like characters, weapons etc. It also includes a bonus dvd with more than 20 hours of video training modules from 3dbuzz where it teaches you step by step how to create your own mods for ut3. And the basic user manual and install dvd. Probably the worst thing about ut3 collector edition is the steel case, very thin and very easy to bent, also not able to hold the dvds onto the case, they come within an anvelope. Also the first time you open the case it opens very difficult, after that it's not even hold in place. After all, ut3 is a very fine game, the grphics are absolutely gorgeus, sounds also are the best, gameplay is the same the unreal series has estabilished and it's definitly worth buying.Read full review
Pros: Awesome graphics and some new vehicles/weapons. Cons: Really not MUCH different that UT2k3 and UT2k4 (Similar Graphics). Not a lot of custom maps yet. Summary: I've been a long time Unreal Tournament player. This game is a nice addition to the series. As with any new release of a game, eventually everyone will switch to the newer version. So, it's innevitable that you will need to do the same. The collectors edition comes in a nice tin and has an art book inside. It's actually pretty hard to find this version, but if you are a fan/collector, this is definately the edition for you.
Got the black edition for the tutorials on Unreal engine 3, which were definitely helpful. I used the book that was released a while back (can't remember the author, title was like Unreal Technology or something) about Unreal Engine 2 and 3 definitely added some nice features. The game itself is still the same as usual though, updated graphics mostly. But why mess with something if it aint broke?
First of all this game has stellar graphics to start. The story line isn't the greatest but it makes up for it with fast action team based first person shooter. The best thing is that you don't have to command or control your team. Multi-player is great as well. If you are a FPS fan or a fan of the previous UT games then I think you should give this game a try.
