This a a great game, I' ve owned it for about a month now. You play a monster hunter (big surprise, I know), but you quickly move from hunting small, benign creatures to taking on giant dragons. Crafting weapons and armor is a huge part of the game and a lot of fun. There are tons of customization options available and each piece of armor and every weapon has its own model in the game. There are several weapon styles available, each with its own +/-. I found that the weapons require quite a bit of skill to use well. I'm finally getting to where I can go into a small battle without taking much damage. The Good: -Lots to do. I've been playing for a month and am maybe 10% into the game. -Great graphics, very pretty environments -Challenging. Some of these monsters are tough as nails to take down. -Customization as far as you can see. Lots of armor, many different weapon styles. The Bad: -No target locking. I don't know why, but you can't lock the camera onto a particular monster. Instead you end up refocusing the camera every 2 seconds during fights. They really need to add this.Read full review
Want a worth game for your peny? you like mission based game and dragons? THEN THIS IS FOR YOU!!! I got this product so i could play with my wife and it was released a long time ago, i even got another psp just to play this (yes is that good, and is better with company). Wath i like is the massive content, and wath i don't like is the deeper you get the harder it gets and if you play solo well you have to get a hang of it or you could get just crushed. Not at the beginning though. It may have a long learning curve but once you pass that you will just enjoy this game. This game is hardly compared to any other game, there are a lot hack and slash and rpg, and yes you hack and slash but also you need to make combos, you have to prepare yourself for every missions, you can gather resources if you need more potions you need to combine stuff, you can select any weapon bow, long sword, sword and shield, bow gun etc etc, and with every weapon the gameplay just changes, becouse you need to make diferent strategies diferent armors that will give you skills that match your weapon and do massive damage. So if you fail with one weapon change it and try with another one. You may suck with the bow but you will master the hammer or you may suck with the hammer but you will love the bow who knows!! just got to play, best of all the weapons and armors are made of parts of the monsters you just hunted so if a moster was hard enugh but you just keep on going in the end you can get a great weapon and armor that not only is like the monster but also has some of his powers....se you out there hunters!! have fun!!Read full review
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is by far my favorite out of all of the Monster Hunter games. The combat is comparable to that of something like Dark Souls, where the attack animations are quite slow compared to the often fast-paced enemies. If you want to experience classic Monster Hunter in its purest form, I highly suggest picking up Freedom Unite. It’s got everything Freedom 1 and Freedom 2 have, plus a whole lot more. It’s a must-have PSP game!

MHFU was my first monster hunter game. I’m astounded how well it’s stood through the years. It has thousands of hours of gameplay, and is easy to pick up and dive into. I can’t recommend this game enough.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is pretty much a hardcore grinding game, for those of you who like to spend countless (over 100+) of hours of questing, leveling your Pet, collecting materials making your own armor etc, and fishing. The whole idea can become slightly repeatable as you go thru the same areas over and over for quests but as you progress further into the game you unlock more and more. Pet wise you have cat like creatures that can fight with you, or cook you different sorts of food in their very own kitchen. Thru various of options you can level up your pet and give it different skills. This game reminds me more of a grinding mmorpg and thus lacks the solid story that a normal RPG would provide. Speaking of mmorpg this game also comes in a online mode and a mode where you can team up with friends using the WLAN. The graphics are very good for a PSP game (upper ps2 graphics)and the music is also very solid (but not eavesdropping) Highly entertaining if you want to spend some time with mindless gaming.Read full review
This was my very first video game I remember the day my mom took me to gamestop and i grabbed this off the shelf i even still have that same one but its a great game challenging but not overly so if you prepare and take advantage of the info out there. The graphics are what youd expect. The gameplay is compelling The in game controls take a bit of learning but thats mainly due to the way the weapons in game work Its a great game if you enjoy the monster hunter series

This is a must buy game/add-on.Well let me say this first this is NOT a new game it's just an add-on for Monster Hunter Freedom 2 game. For me it was worth buying for a few reason's.One it add's on the warrior cat's which you can take with you in single player mission's.There are three type's of fighter cat's Melee, Bomber and Healer. You cna level them up and even buy skill's for them with point's you earn when you take them on mission's.Also you can choose not to take them with you and still have them level up at the house. But it's more fun to go on mission's with them. Two your inventory box has more space and now all item's capasity level is 99.But only in your inventory.I don't know what suit's are new because I was still in the beginning when I bought this add-on but they claim there's alot more now.The best part is you can import your old character from the previous game's.You can also modify them.Ther where only two or three new face's and hair's for both gender's.Another big plus is that you can install the so that it load's faster alot faster I highly recommend this. But you'll need around 600 MB on your memory stick to do so.The sound quality was improved also it look's slightly better visual wise. It's fault's are that you can't take your new cat companion on mission's with other player's.You can only take the on mission's you do on your own.Plus you can't take them on treasure mission's.If you had an old save from the Monster Hunter game you can't import rare item's depending on what game it was.Even with it's minor flaw's I do recommend you just can't pass up on hunting with a cat.Meow!Read full review
I’m thirty years old this year, but I was playing this game in high school! So much comfort hearing the sounds and making the choices with an even more advanced mind compared to the first time around these parts.

I've played Monster hunter since the tail end of the american release and I've always enjoyed it greatly. The main problem getting into it is how much time, barring friends to power through tough creatures for you, is needed to get under way and find your weapon and armor you'll use. Not really that grand of a game for a casual player. Missions will usually have a fifty minute time limit and near endgame you will need that time. Has a wonderful diversity of enemies and there are eleven different weapon classes to find your playstyle and all forms of combat are supported, even pacifism if you can get some teammates to buff and heal.
This is a great series. I really enjoy the system, it takes a while to get into though. I think that this is a great game to enjoy with 1-3 other people because you can hunt together in a group for some intense monster hunts. This product is a great time waster, it helps you burn through long flights or drives, with stunning visuals. It is has great group based combat and amazing boss fights that can take from no time to a full 45 minutes. I disliked the fact that whenever you use a consumable, or how long it takes to really get into the game. the beginning quests are almost laughable but get steadily more difficult (which is nice to see). I personally would suggest this, if you have a group of friends who want a good coop game.
