Product Information
Good things come in small packages in this collection of Pixar shorts that have won hearts and Oscars for their creativity. The geniuses behind TOY STORY, FINDING NEMO, and other animated favorites have brought their talent to these 13 mini-movies. This anthology features THE ADVENTURES OF ANDRÉ & WALLY B., LUXO JR., RED'S DREAM, KNICK KNACK, BOUNDIN', JACK-JACK ATTACK, ONE MAN BAND, and LIFTED. It also includes the Oscar-winning shorts TIN TOY, GERI'S GAME, and FOR THE BIRDS. MONSTERS, INC.'s Mike shows up in MIKE'S NEW CAR, while a certain beloved truck from CARS makes an appearance in MATER AND THE GHOSTLIGHT.
For nearly two decades, Pixar has utilized short films not only to build its creative identity as a company, but to construct and develop the new technologies that continue to advance the animation industry. From its simplest, super-crude, minute-long shorts in the late 80's to the more polished, complex pieces we see today alongside Ratatouille in the theatres, Pixar relied on short filmmaking to find its place in the cinematic world. Some years later, they would succeed, of course, with Toy Story.
This collection features all of Pixar's 13 short films from the very first -- The Adventures of Andre and Wally B -- to the very latest - the alien-themed Lifted. Each of these thoroughly enjoyable and equally charming films illustrate Pixar's signature charm and whimsy, clearly on display from the opening frame of this incredible collection. A great historical reference for interested animation students or a evening of solid (if occasionally dated) entertainment for adults and children alike, these films constitute a joyous and joyously-simple release.
Video and Presentation
While each short is definitive of a particular time in computer animation history - from little more than basic, moving wire-frames to the complex detail of Pixar's current films - the overall video quality here is finely presented. Obviously, the earlier the film, the less polished the image, but what is presented here is presented with as few flaws as possible.

this is a film with a collection of pixar animated shorts.it starts from when i guess they first started out. then it goes up to the present day when the collection came out. the first couple of shorts are very primitive. it looks as if the pixar team was experimiting their craft til they mastered the craft of making animation from a computer. the shorts start off primitive and get better and more detailed as they go along. the collection is enjoyable to watch. a handful of these can be seen from one of pixar's major animated movies as a short. here you get the whole collection to a point.
check them out.
It was a pretty cute collection of short, funny films. It's only 53 minutes and seemed way shorter. Probably due to all of the credits before and after each short, which made my little one loose interest pretty fast in each transition to the next short. But it's a great collection starting from the early years to more recent. Goes to show how animation, story lines and characters have changed over time.
This DVD/Blu-Ray is a wonderful collection of short films created by Pixar Studios. It shows the beginning of computer annimation from the 70's up until today while entertaining you with delightful stories. The stories are already included individually with previous releases of other animated films such as Monsters Inc. and Cars, but are compiled into one disc for everyones enjoyment. Fun for the whole family. It is a must for any movie collector. Worth buying at ALMOST any price. Blu-ray or Not. Best on Blu-Ray.
