It's John Fogerty. The heart and soul of Creedence. Superb songwriter. Great guitarist. But above all, one of the most brilliant producers of our generation. A master of keeping it simple. All the right things in all the right places. Some of this solo stuff is immaculate.

It's been a long wait since Fogerty's last solo effort and this was well worth it! Back with his CCR label, Fantasy, the album kicks off with admittedly its best track, "Don't You Wish It Was True" This hummable, easy to remember melody is an upbeat, fun ride. This is classic Fogerty even without the other CCR talent. Unafraid of social commentary, "Long Dark Night" laments the War, George Bush & the Katrina response in biting satire. Poignant, but not preachy, it's solid guitar and harp showcase this great cut! Very little filler on this album. John is back and in great rock form! What a further thrill to catch him on the Grammys!(2/13/08)
Good old John Fogerty, no pretense, no b.s., just great roots rock and roll that seems to flow out of him with nothing but ease. A nicely crafted collection of fun rock and roll numbers by John and the superb band that backs him up. Many of the song's lyrics now seem to be focused on the great deal of injustice and senselessness of the current presidential administration, and the war that it has created, but they don't come off preachy or pretentious. Not to be TOO political, Fogerty also deals with fun subjects as well, and gives a little wink to his past with other songs on the album. All around, it's a fine selection of tunes by the former leader of CCR, and one can only hope that Mr. Fogerty continues to give us albums like this for years to come.
This is definatly John Fogerty's best CD. I own alot of John Fogerty and CCR CDs, but this is by far my best. My favorite song is Don't You Wish It Was True. It tells about a dream he had where he walked into hevean and was led around by an angel. John Fogerty has been recording for Four decades and his voice is unchanged. And for a man who spent years refusing to play his back catalog and enduring litigation over his old band's material, it's interesting to hear him acknowledge his past so wholeheartedly; on the sly "Creedence Song" his guitar teases old CCR licks, and "I Can't Take it No More" references "Fortunate Son." By playing to his strengths and reeling out bluesy, rootsy riffs and belting in his patented salty-but-sweet manner. I would definatly recommend this CD to anyone. List of Songs: 1. I saw John Fogerty at the StageCoach Festival in Coachella 2008. There were many songs he played that I wasn't aware of. John can still crank out his piercing guitar leads as well as sing ballads with his unique singing style. He has come full circle from CCR's demise and his resolve to please his audience shows. I was not disappointed with his live performance and sought out this CD. Though the length is short by CD standards (a vinyl record album was also released, a rarity now a days) it stands up next to the rest of his wideranging portfolio. If you are a fan of Creedence Clearwater Revival and John Fogerty, I urge you to check this album out. JHS
