I loved this movie. I have since it came out in theaters. This particular cut, "Alexander Revisited" is the third and final cut. I also believe that it's the best out of the three. It has all the footage from both of the first cuts, plus some extra footage that didn't make it. As far as the movie itself goes, I believe it's a great depiction of Alexander the Great's life. Sure, it's a bit inaccurate at some points, and occasionally a few things get glossed over, but it's not a complete butcher job like some Hollywood movies. The only thing I would change a bit is the role Hephaestion played in the movie. I don't think he got enough air time, for being someone so important in Alexander's life. That kind of bothered me, but overall it wasn't a big issue.
there is only one thing i liked about this movie and that was val kilmores acting. very small part maybe 5 min long and yes he kisses another guy but he was in my, my wife, and sister in-law the only thing good in the movie. the directiong was bad the music score would come in at the wrong points when not needed or wrong tune for situation. the homosexuality was was to strong with a man being raped by other men as part of a party about 15 min into the movie. it was an unnessary part of the movie. yes greeks back in the day had boy toys but i think they crossed the line alot in this movie. fight scenes were crap. this is just about the worse movie i have ever seen. i even paid full price for this hd dvd and i am one to try to get what i pay for but i felt like trowing the disc and coverings into the fireplace.Read full review
I bought it because my dear, precious (usually well behaved) dog chewed up one of the disks I already had. Felt like I HAD to have the whole thing again. Admittedly 'Alexander' is not the best movie in the world. (My vote for that still goes to 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'...) But I've been a fan of Alexander the conqueror since forever and have read everything I could find on him. This movie put beautiful pictures to the words floating around in my head. I was looking forward to seeing more of Bagoas (parts cut from the other versions of the movie) - and then almost wished I hadn't. Horrible teeth; outrageously horrible voice. But the dance was superb and the kiss quite exciting ;-)) My package arrived promptly and was still in its original wrappings just as advertised. It was exactly what I hoped for.Read full review
Excellent Drama. Lavish war-epic revolves around Alexander ("the Great"), the young King of Macedonia, who conquered almost the entire known world of his era, before dying at the age of 32.
This HD movie has many known stars and Oliver Stone directing. This movie is too long and too boring for most audiences. Remember the HD format CAN NOT be played on MOST systems
