Great Great book, it teaches you a new way of eating. Cut the carbs, lost weight & feel better. In 30 days i have lost 20 lbs and this is the longest i have been on any diet. Staying away from bad carbs has help my carvings, so that helps you on this diet. You can eat a wide range of food on this diet, just stay away from man made sugar. I have diabetes & after doing this diet my bloodsugar are at good levels, so i don't have to take my meds. I used to be sleepy all day and take daytime naps. Now a feel the best i feel in years and no more napping. On the web site www.atkins.com you can read & ask questions on the different forums, learning from the people that are doing the the diet. I started at 267 and now after 20 days I'm at 249. I no longer crave the junk food and feel great . Atkins first book had non believers and the people in the "know" saying a low carbohydrate diet was going to kill you. In the New Diet Revolution after years of proving the skeptics wrong. The book has the data to support your decisions to live this diet and feel safe in doing so. If you truly want to feel better buy a copy of this book and follow it. I'm 55 years old and my target is 185. P.S You need to increase your activity level also. Take a walk . You can buy your walking shoes on Ebay!!!
I find this book full of helpful information as far as how to do the Atkins Diet properly, but it is also packed with inspirational stories and great ideas. I go back and read this book periodically, or sections of it, to keep me on track and give me new ideas and renewed inspiration. Thanks Dr. Atkins for caring enough to tell the truth about carbs!
I bought this book because I just found out I am diabetic. My wife had borrowed this very book from her sister-in-law because she said there was a diabetic section in it. I found it so interesting & informative that I was highlighting many areas. My wife forgot to tell me that she wanted it back! Needless to say my wife was happy to get this book at a great price! By the way, I have since lost 24 lbs so she thinks it was worth it!
Middle age now and working to maintain a better diet overall. Cannot stress ehough just how important diet is in preventing many diseases, one being Cancer. There's a video out (Youtube?) called: Beautiful Truth / a must see. Dr. Atkins has a diet that leads in this direction.
