I bought this game because I love dungeon and dragon style games and this one had some really great screen shots. What I didn't like about the game is the way the game play is. You can't see your whole character, all you see is just the hands of them. It would have been nice to have a feature where you have the whole view of what your character looks like. Another thing that bothered me about the game is the writing/dialogue. The writing/dialogue is so small I can barely read it, and I don't know if there is a way to enlarge it. I haven't really played the game a whole lot yet so I really couldn't tell you what I like best about it yet. Overall, so far it is a good game with great graphics. I would recommend renting it through gamefly or a video store before buying.
I held off on this game until it had been reviewed thoroughly by many of the more reputable game sites. Having got the game at the new retail price of $29.99 was a good investment since that is all that it is worth. There are a ton of map glitches where your character can get caught up on and many of the character animations are just horrible. Having said that, the game is fun if you can set aside the problems and is definately worth playing. The enemies get very repetitive and the graphics are nothing to write home to mom about but all in all it is an average game. I have played alot of RPG'ish type games and I really cannot compare it to anything I have played in the past. If I had to give you a rough idea I would say a mixture of Two Worlds and Oblivion as in the game play with all of the problems of Two Worlds. If you haven't played Oblivion, pay the extra money and you will be a thousand times more satisfied.Read full review
So I'm 25 years old now and felt quite nostalgic about previous RPGs I've played in the past this game in particular. I was around 14 or so when the game originally was released then I found it to be to difficult and a bit buggy and moved onto elderscrolls oblivion. However after buying this game and playing it again it's great I love the character customization the different weapons collectibles in the game as well as the design it's beautiful. Controls can be a bit buggy but over all I would definitely recommend it to any RPG player.

I beat this game years ago like 3 or 4 times. I got it again bc I thought ai wanted to play it again. It didn't have the same effect. Still it's a pretty good game if you like the game Thief, it's very similar game play.

I bought this game because I was looking for something to replace Oblivion once I finished it. This game is definitely a quality game and I would recommend it to people who like first-person RPG style games. The one thing to keep in mind here is that unlike Oblivion, which is a "go anywhere, do anything" sandbox-style RPG, Dark Messiah is a much more linear experience. That's not to say it's not enjoyable, but if you're looking for freedom to explore and do whatever side-quests you like, this might not be the game for you. If you don't mind a linear, story-driven RPG then give it a try! The graphics are good, and the gameplay is fun. All in all it's an enjoyable game.
