Timed to coincide with the 2007 Rugby World Cup, EA Sports returns to the pitch and lets armchair ruggers thumb-scrum to their heart's content in Rugby 08. Gamers can control any one of 20 national teams and scrum, ruck, and maul their way from qualification all the way through the championship final in a quest to win rugby's ultimate prize, the Webb Ellis Cup.

New to Rugby 08 are authentic defensive formations that allow players to adjust the defense on-the-fly and a layered pick-up-and-play control system for set pieces and drop kicks. Enhanced push and rotation controls allow for greater command in scrums and rucks, a simplified control scheme helps novices make lineout throw-ins, and a new kicking meter has been added for scoring on key penalties and conversions.

Rugby 08 lets gamers take control of Rugby's biggest international superstars like New Zealand's Richie McCaw, England's Mark Cueto, the Aussie Stirling Mortlock, and American sensation Brian Willey. The new World Cup Challenge mode also gives players the ability to re-create, or rewrite, the biggest moments in World Cup history.

Rugby 08 - 06
I'm a rugby fan so I love this game, however its not all that different from 06. Aside from the updated teamlists, the added team chemistry feature and World Cup tournament. Its pretty much the same game. Seems to have a few glitches too, like you may get a kick off just before getting tackled and although the ball is on the other side of the field, you get called for a 'knock on'. Weird. Anyways, if you're a rugby fan, you'll enjoy it. But if you're looking for a challenge, your wasting your time.

Good Game
A great learning tool for youngsters. Fun to play and fast paced. Different methods of scrum control is an interesting part of the game. Would be recommended for new ruggers, or any 15's international who just can't get enough.

exelent game if you are a rugby fan don't hesitate buy it now extremmely worth the money i know the rugby games out there suck this one could be better in a couple of aspects but it is the best rugby game on the market. i wonder how it is on the xbox360 if anyone reading this review has it for the xbox msg me and let me know if its better i love this game so much i am willing to buy a 360 only to get this game

Good stuff
I just started playing rugby and thought this would be a good way to learn the game better. It doesn't have as many feature's as Madden but the in play game settings are quite good and its a very enjoyable game to play with friends.

I bought the game for my son-in-law who is an Aussie. He had the Rugby '06 game and likes the new one very much. It was great that I could find the game somewhere in the U.S. They don't market it over here for obvious reasons.

EA Rugby 08 - PS2
I love this game because its an overall amazing Rugby Union game. It has so many different teams, stadiums, and game modes. Anyone can play this game because there are great tutorials and the practice modes help improve my playing ability. This game is so fun to play and on the Elite difficulty can really be challenging. You can also create your own player and add them to any roster in the game. The game-play feels so good and pretty much anything you see happen in a real life match can be simulated or performed in Rugby 08. The set plays are very fun because there are so many of them and when the computer performs them they are difficult to read. Something that I am not a fan of in this game is that any time you kick the ball from behind your own 22 straight out of touch it is a line-out from where it goes out, this is an issue because you can pass the ball behind your own 22 and kick for touch. I would recommend this game to any rugby fan and anyone who enjoys sports games. If you do buy this game be warned - it is extremely addicting and the computer has amazing try-line defense and is great at scoring drop-goals.Read full review
