Trained British Special Forces, real life survival expert, the youngest to climb Mount Everest, the only person to ever fly above Mount Everest. How can his wife keep letting him out of the house? Her knees must be worn out from praying because he is at it again as a survival specialist who is put into extreme situations and is filmed surviving them. Desert survival, swimming with icebergs, sliding down a 500ft to 1000 ft section of an Alaskan mountain on his side with a busted ski pole to guide him. Let's not even get into what this guy eats as if his wife knew, she may be very reluctant to kiss him. It is a favorite show of mine and I admire him. What I have told you only scratches the surface. Next time take me with you Bear....... please.
Bear Grylls is really something else to watch. Watching just one of his shows will make you want to watch more. You will learn things that can save your life just about any where. One thing to beware of: Bear Grylls is not someone you want to watch while having dinner. ___________________________________________________ UPDATE : I had given this five stars. But I came back to downgrade star count. Because in the new season Bear has spent all of his time running around the wilderness and killing animals just for fun and to show off. Like when he spent up to ten hours with some people trying to dig up a porcupine just tormented and kill it. Or when he took a giant lizard smashed it's head against tree a few times and killed it just to eat it's tale and liver. Or the time he ran up onto a beautiful giant blue crab. Step on it, killed it with a knife, open it and then could not eat it because it tasted so bad. Then through its dead body down telling it how nasty it was. Or when he took a giant turtle that had to be 150 years old killed it and cooked it. If you have to kill and eat an animal and survivor situation that is one thing but what Bear now is doing is just killing animals for the fun of it and to show off. Everyone knows he is followed by his film crew and they do not stay out there all night long. He could just catch it tell us how to kill, clean, and cooked it and let it go. They have even at times put fish, rabbits, and snow chickens out there for him to cook. If he wants to start showing off by the first thing he does when he lands is eating bugs and drinking his own pee that is one thing. He does not have to kill and destroy animals just for the fun and to show off, to try to look smart and macho and make a television show. He needs to learn more respect for nature and the animals in it. And he should know better. If he spent 1/2 the time teaching people how to start fires withour matches or flint. Then he does killing things for fun. And eating bugs to show off. Making gross and needless comments about how they taste. The show would be better.Read full review
I bought this for my son for Christmas and he LOVES it! We all watched it together as a family and some parts are really raw because he's demonstrating his survival techniques but it's also funny at times as you witness Bears complete determination and " gutsiness" as he takes on each extreme situation. It's not for younger children but teenagers as well as adults would enjoy this IF they're intrigued with nature and IF they have a strong stomach!
The dvd was great. The only thing I didn't like was in the discription it leads you to believe that there will be more episodes on this that what there really was. But I really liked it and liked the extras that were included on the disk. It tool a little while to get here but that wasn't your fault. I would do buisness with you again. THanks so much.
Bear is always fun to watch, great prices on these seasons!
