Great functionality, good pump, clean clothes; short hoses, short cable, bad at pet hair
I've enjoyed a very similar one to this, but needed a pump. A couple weeks in I'm very happy. I've successfully hooked this into my plumbing by splitting my sink cold water to have an additional valve that I use to fill the wash tub. (You know the water shut-offs under your sink? If you get a splitter with an additional shut-off it works great for a semi-permanent install. I can't speak to code, this is just what I did.) And thanks to the pump, we just drain into the toilet tank (not the bowl), which when it gets full, drops into the bowl, and when that's full, it drains. No issues with draining too fast or too slow for this setup/convenience. When we're done we flush the toilet to get the grey water out of the tank. The unit comes with a plastic device that I think may specifically be for this setup.
The power cord is a bit short, but works for our context I don't like the idea of an extension cord for something involving this much water--make sure such a short cord will work for you. I think it's maybe six feet, but check the listing. The drain hose is way too short, I spliced on some rubber tubing to get up and over the toilet tank. This hose is useless for even getting into the sink. Why include a pump and then a hose to short to take advantage? May as well use a gravity drain. You will need to extend this hose for the pump to really be of any use in most settings.
The dryer cover plastic is too tight. I had to cut it to get it out. After that, I removed one of the plastic edges on the outside of the disc. This makes it much easier to remove but still tight enough to prevent clothes flying around. In most loads, I don't need it, I just put the largest item on top of the dry pile, but if you're doing socks/underwear, you will need it.
They ask yes/no "is it quiet" in the review, and I said "yes", but I'd say it's average. Not loud, but maybe not really quiet either. It's mostly just the water pump that makes noise. It's quieter than my dish washer but you still here it going. Fine with me.
As others have said, spin dry gets you 90% there. Good enough. We bought an accordion hook thing for our bathroom wall that we use as a pseudo clothes-line. Works great. Overnight is long enough, and there isn't enough water left to worry about damaging our floors.
Obviously I've expressed some criticisms, but I'm sticking to my five stars because the clothes are clean, the spin dry is pretty good, and the pump is great (I hope it lasts--I've only had this two weeks). I got what I was expecting. Most of my concerns also applied to our old unit, so I knew what to expect and had planned for it.
