Overall good album. But if you're looking for the same sound as "Let's Go" or "And out come the wolves" you might be disappointed. If that's the case, "Bloodclot" and "Something in the world today" might appease you. But, the other experimental tracks (such as the title track and Hooligans) to me were very successful explorations of reggae and ska. If you love Tim and Lars, I'd buy it. You'll forgive them for adapting their style a bit.
It's not as immediately catchy as Out Come the Wolves, but give it a few plays, and you'll be singing Backslide, Leicester Square, Hooligans and all the other tracks constantly. It's very obvious that Rancid is paying homage to many other punk and ska bands in this album, there are even a few other legendary bands on the record, including the specials and the slackers. The lyrics on this album are far better than any of Rancid's previous attempts. Give it a listen, you won't be disappointed.
Rancid followed up ...And Out Come the Wolves very well with Life Won't Wait. Many will say that it's a lot of reggae, but truthfully, there's about 6 or 7 out of 22 reggae sounding songs. I absolutely love this album; it's my second favorite Rancid album (behind And Out Come the Wolves)... which says a lot! Fantastic album, a must have for any Rancid fan... or just any punk rock fan!
My husband loves this band
