I really enjoyed the first and last part of this book--where we follow Friday on her courier missions. The sexuality was a big turn-off for me. I got my fill of "polyamorous social group structures" in "Brave New World". Unlike Heinlein, I don't look at sex as "the greatest thing ever", in fact, far from it in my opinion. Even though Heinlein does not go into any detail with the sexual situations of Friday between men, women, groups of men and women, APs, etc... I find myself slightly sickened by what is mentioned and I did vomit a little at the ending. I went in well knowing of Heinlein's sexuality, and his style, so I'll shut up. I could not help but think through it all that this is where Rare got their "Perfect Dark". I love that 64 game! Heinlein really did make me hate Friday's "S Family". One huge disappointment was that Friday did not get the money back the family swindled from her and Anita (#1 antagonist) did not get what was coming to her. I enjoyed the diagrams of Lupus and Centaurus and the technical explanations of the hyperspaceship's planned course! Boss would be proud. I'd kill for Janet's hideaway! I must say the most sexually deviant person in the book is Betty--what a slitch!Read full review
Written 40 years ago and still applies to our current world. Heinlein had a real understanding of people and society. Both the good and the bad.

This is a wonderful tongue-in-cheek humor book by a serious science fiction writer. I have read this at least 6 times, loaned it out, and just bought another copy so I can read it again. It makes me chuckle and sometimes laugh out loud at the hidden humor.

This book by Heinlein does not peak my interest much. Way to much dialogue. Way to much sex. Know wheres enough action to keep my interest. That's just me. Others my like it.

I am a Heinlein fanatic from way back. I have read every book concerning Lazurus Long, the Smith families, etc. I have also read a large percentage of his books seperate from that series as well. Why did I buy it? My most recent copy ,like the seven other copies I've had, got lifted.I'm wondering how long I'll have this one and what that person wants with so many copies of this book. Just kidding,I've lived in almost as many states as I have had copies. There's just something about the way that Bob tells a story that I can't get enough of. Rather like Alice,I seem to fall into the story and journey along with the characters.I wish more of his books were available on my Kindle. That way the book thief could get them all at once!!
