It's fabulous, a nine and a half out of ten.
I have two very, very hairy dogs I am amazed that this little hoover manages to cope so well with the mess. It has much exceeded my expectation. I have mostly hard floors but it does a fantastic job on my really thick rugs and rubber backed mats - noticeably better results than my DC39. My corded dyson hasn't come out the cupboard since this one arrived. Yes the dust bin capacity is a little small but it is very quick, clean and easy to empty so it's not been an issue. It's also super light which is great. Negative point: I have been static shocked once from the charging point which is located low down on the handle.... not so great but has only happened to me once and I use it a lot (..Sweaty palms on that occasion perhaps?) I noticed other reviews also have reported that same experience. Dyson V8 vacuum stick.
The Dyson v8 was refurbished, much cheaper than new, but seemed new in box with everything. Thing is, the 40 min battery runs a lot shorter time if you use a motorised head and/or max power, maybe 7 minutes in some cases then 5 hours to charge. So okay for emergency use or special jobs, but you still need a corded vacuum unless you live in a tent.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Great vacuum cleaner
This is an amazing vacuum cleaner. It cleans beautifully and is so easy to use compared to a corded model. It has a good level of suction on the normal setting, more than enough to clean up dog hairs, plus has a turbo charge function for even more power. The battery doesn't last long on turbo but it's really not needed most of the time so it doesn't matter. The V8 animal isn't the top of the Dyson range but it's great value for money and does the job perfectly.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Love Dyson
Dyson isn't perfect, there are a few things that could be improved on, but for picking up dust it is second to none. I have a corded ball Dyson as well, but I don't think that it is any better than my cordless stick vacuum. It is lightweight, emptying is so easy as is attaching other bits of kit. I also have to say how helpful Dyson are. It's also great having 40 mins. of battery, I can easily do the house in one battery's worth; a deep clean would need more.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Vacuums well but battery life is still an issue
Great vacuum cleaner. Very good to be able to vacuum without a cord. Works excellent on Max mode but then I would be lucky to get even 5 minutes out of it before a recharge so that mode is only for emergencies. It does vacuum good enough on the low power setting, but I still only get 20 minutes out of it which is half of the advertised 40 minutes. I do like this vacuum, but it’s a shame, as battery life is it’s only let down I hope battery technology gets even better with time as the actual vacuuming process has been perfected by Dyson and they should not change how it works to get more battery life out of it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

My first dyson
This a refurbished dyson animal 8 but sold through the dyson outlet store through e bay and comes with a 1 year guarantee and at £229 thought I would give it a go as the brand new price for me was a bit too much at almost double this price. The item was speedily delivered and well packed .I put the dyson on line to authorise the guarantee and set it up to use which was very simple . Brilliant as light as air with strongest pick up
This is my 3rd Dyson & would not buy anything else. (2nd one is V6 trigger Pro I use in caravan-20 mins just does the job). I still have my DC24 and use sometimes (find cord a pain though now I'm not used to one) when my V8 has run out of battery, but initially purchased the V8 to cope with my small porch and a few steps plus the store room which is awkward to do with my DC24. My V8 is really brilliant you do not feel you are hooving it is so light yet so excellent in pickup and the head simply turns into the corners at the flick of the wrist. Yesterday I also did the lounge as well as everywhere else and it just ran out of battery at the very second I thought I'll just go over the porch mat again to use up the battery before I put it on charge, as I like to run battery down totally and then fully re-charge. I really love it, when I think of years ago using the heavy cylinder vac huh!. The emptying is so cool too - no dust flying back into your face as it all just drops out like a hair/fluff ball with the click of the opener. Just get one - you won't be disappointed.
Not perfect, but a joy to use. After years of using various full sized Dysons, the V8 is better in almost every way. The lack of a cord, the light weight, the reduction in noise, the maneuverability - all great improvements. The dust container is a bit small, but not significantly so. On thick pile carpets - I notice that it doesn't pick up quite as well as a mains powered Dyson, but to be honest, it's a good compromise as it also doesn't beat the fibres out of the carpet. And the result looks just as good. The battery life is perfectly good - it copes well with our 4 bedroom house with plenty in reserve. When the filter needs cleaning, the motor stops and starts in pulses, which was a bit worrying the first time we experienced it, but it's really a good feature which stops the motor from overheating. We still have our older Root Cyclone Animal Dyson - and use it now and again to give the carpets a good deep clean, but it beats the life out of them whilst removing just a little extra dirt.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Super easy vacuum - light and easy to use, great for my rugs and wooden floors. I personally have never been a fan of the previous Dyson corded models but this has changed that. I love zapping around with it. Suction is great even on the lower setting, only drawback is I need to keep emptying the dust container. V8 Animal from Dyson Outlet bought April 2020
Arrived within 2 days in midst of covid19 lockdown. Brand new. Battery could have been designed to swappable without need for screwdriver otherwise perfect product.
