I've had Etymotic products for many years and have always been amazed at the sound quality. I recently left my high end Etymotics on an airplane after a long flight. I decided to replace them for the less expensive ER3XR earphones. I'm glad I did. I usually listen to music with my IPhone or IPad so thought I likely didn't need the higher end product. I would say the sound quality is just as good as the more expensive model when using a streaming service on an IPhone or IPad. The nice fit of the ear tips make them essentially noise cancelling. A wonderful product...............

I have tried a lot of different earbuds/earphones over the years. But these are my 2nd Etymotics that I have purchased and they outperform everything else I have tried. It does take a little effort to get them into your ears correctly but once you do, the sound is just terrific. Yes they are pricey but well worth the money.

Requires very deep insertion into your head, but this is not uncomfortable for me, and the sound is superb–very flat and detailed, not so boomy and muddy like my Sony wh-1000xm3 noise cancelling headphones. The noise isolation actually works better (e.g. on airplanes) than the active noise-cancelling headphones, although comfort with these may be an issue after 2-3 hours.
