These are great pedals especially if you do some mixed road, gravel and even single track riding. You can use the Shimano SPD clips or rotate and us the in nice platform pedal on the reverse side. They're also the lightest of the Shimano SPD's. Excellent product all around.

First I will admit that I got sucked in by Ultegra. However, these are no where near as good as the 20 yearold Ultegra road pedals they replaced. The absence of the rear half of the platform really makes a difference, not good. These pedals do function well once clipped in. But getting clipped in is hit and miss. In my case more misses than hits. Still not bad for the money. Maybe with more time the first attempt clip in accuracy rate will improve. Also if you are into cosmetic perfection, mine already have scars on the top and bottom from untidy clip in.

If you use SPD cleats with a road bike, and care about weight, aerodynamics, and appearance, there is no better choice on the market. I’ve tried many, many SPD options and nothing comes close. I will agree that the pedal isn’t the easiest to clip in to. However, if you understand how any clipless pedal works, these are no different. Shimano could easily “fix” the issue but that would be at the expense of weight. If you’re thinking, “that’s dumb, I would rather the pedal be heavier and easier to get in”, these aren’t the pedals for you. There are a ton of heavier options out there for you. Like everything else in life there are compromises. If your number one and two requirements are SPD and light weight, this is your pedal. If those aren’t your top priorities, it won’t be a 5 star for you. Read full review

This is the best of Shimano's SPD pedals for road use. It has a hardy body with a sleak shape of the more standard SPD-SL pedals typically used for road. As SPD pedals go this is one of the ligthest. the only negative from long term use is the dark grey bottom surface can get mared and chipped from the cleat on the shoe. this can make the pedal a little un sightly over time, but has no effect on the functionality.

These pedals are exactly what I was looking for my road bike. Extremely light and nice looking. They are also very comfortable for long rides. It is more difficult to clip in since it is one sided mechanism. However , this gets better with practice.

It’s shimano, that means it’s a great pedal that will last forever. If you’re used to two sided flip less pedals, get ready for the challenge of flipping the pedal over. If you’re used to road, this is no issue at all. Great looking pedals, lighter than most SpD pedals. All around a great product

I was looking for a set of SPD‘s for my road bike and found these which fit the bill to a T. Very happy with them, only downside is it can take a bit of getting used to having just one side to clip in on

I like SPD shoes and clips much better than SPD-SL, but they are less common for road biking. These pedals still have a road bike look, feel, and weight, with the SPD clip style. I've put about 50 miles on them so far and they've been perfect.

I’ve had a problem with my foot for years and since I started using these pedals I haven’t had any soreness in my foot even on 5-6 hours riding on hot days. Love these pedals!!!

Lighter than 540 and don't really need the dual-sided. Profile is also a bit thinner, too - so I had to lower my saddle a bit.
