This is a Hoppe's cleaning kit designed for .22 caliber pistols. The kit includes 10 items, such as a cleaning cloth, bore brush, and gun oil, all stored in a viper den case. The materials used are brass and the color is multicolor. This product is ideal for gun enthusiasts who want to maintain their firearms in top condition.
It’s pretty good, but the cord that you pull the brushes and mop through the barrel with is much smaller than the original bore snakes I own, I’m afraid that it will not last as long as the rest of the snake and will be harder for some people to hold onto while pulling the snake through a barrel and to me the cap/tee handle for the “Den” doesn’t make up for this. To me it also seemed like the cord was going to pull loose the first time I pulled the snake through my barrel because it was a very tight fit and the cordage seemed flimsy in comparison with the rest of the bore snake construction. With the price I payed, I would have thought the build quality would have been as good or better than the original bore snake all the way around.
It wasn't better than expected, but it was as good as I expected. I made one mistake of putting bore cleaner on the wrong part of the snake and got it stuck for a while in the barrel of the gun. I was able to extract it but in the process pulled the little brass thing off the end of the string. Now after all that I still say it is a good product. I have one for my nine mm pistol, also. I still have a hidden urge to use a wire brush and cloth patches.
I keep my Snake slightly wet with Break Free CLP. After a shooting session, I drag the Snake through the barrel a couple of times to remove some of the fouling and leave a slight oil film to prevent rust.
The Hoppe's Viper Bore Snakes do the job very quickly and easily.
I own several in multiple calibers. But I still run a brush though my guns every once in a while to remove any heavier fouling just to be sure.
