  • Great stove

Received the stove. Had a couple of places damaged during shipping. Got that worked out with seller. Nice to work with. Set-up was much the same as any camp stove of this type. The stove operation is simple. If you have ever, or never, operated a camp stove it’s fool-proof. The 25,000 BTU burners worked flawlessly. Boiled 1-1/2 quarts of water in just over 3 minutes in a regular SS pot. Operation and performance are easily 5 star. I gave it 4 stars due to fit and finish. The single center latch was not riveted on straight, causing the hood to slide a bit to one side when latching. The wire loop that hooks to the hood had not been correctly bent and was not even hanging in the latch handle. I was able to reposition the lower latch and correctly bent the wire loop. Just shouldn’t have had to. There were little dings all around in the SS tray in the burner areas. And small paint over-sprays in a few places. This is a great stove, worthy of the accolades given to it in the reviews I read. Based on the pics I have seen of last years model it just looks like it was cheapened-up by Stansport. Nothing to affect the cooking performance, just cosmetics. I know down the road the single hood latch will fail. They should have left the cabinet design alone for the $$ it costs.

  • Hit this one way out of the park!

For some reason I really wanted to buy the Camp Chef Everest. But after all my research I came to the conclusion that the Stansport was the best stove for me. Two reasons: 25k btu capability for each burner, and it's superior simmering capability. The simmering was the most important feature to me as I like rice that has to simmer for 7 minutes after coming to a boil. Needless to say, my first test of this stove was with my rice and the rice turned out great! I'm extremely happy I bought the Stansport over the Camp Chef Everest. I still think the Everest is a really good stove too but for what I wanted to do with this stove the Stansport was in the end the clear cut choice for me!
