Warren Beatty's older sister has always been one to know what she wanted in life, even at an early age. What people thought of her didn't matter. I love her spunk and attitude. In this book, which by the way is one of her best.....she confronts the realities and rewards of growing older. Looking back on her personal and professional milestones, she relates how both have stitched together the seemingly random events in her life. Ms. MacLaine is very concerned with modern medicine and shares her insights into nutrition, homeopathy and alternative medicine. I found this absolutely interesting, since more people are turning in this direction away from "just what the Dr. prescribes" because that is what the pharmaceutical companies pay him to prescribe. Ms. Maclaine also explores the unseen and what happens to us after death. She makes one prediction. She anticipates that on December 12, 2012, according to the sages, our new consciousness will be born. Not sure even Sylvia Browne has given us definite dates, but I hope I am around to see this event. I have loved all her books but this was a real comfort to read and also I agree with her on alternative medicines. I, myself, have replaced conventional meds with alternatives with fantastic results. I am not saying everyone can do this, but everyone can read about them. Two thumbs up!!Read full review
Okay where do i start could not even think of reviewing this straight after finishing it, as it filled my head with worms. This book is a nippy one, other reviewers have stated honestly that she: Reflects parts of her showbiz life, to me always entertaining, Touches on medical subjects very interesting. In fact you are reading away thinking this is a good book. She is honest and directs everything at you with a sincere dear reader like you are an old friend. Which if you have read all her other books like me is nice, or is it. She has probably done this before, i think she has, but in this book she uses it to i feel really grab you. Before you know it she is bombarding you with all this scientific spiritual information. Great i hear you say well i would have agreed. But this was relentless it felt like an attack at times. But in saying that i feel this is the book all her other ones have been leading up to. In one of her earlier books i remember her saying that originally "Out On A Limb" was longer but she was advised to edit it as the public were not quite ready for it all yet. Well i think she feels the time is right now, as it is written with such urgency, well thats how it felt to me. There were times when reading this that at certain paragaphs, no matter how many times i read i just did not compute my brain was too small, hence my saying at the start of this that my head was full of worms, in fact it reminded me of a scene in her mini series "Out On A limb" when she said to her composite character David " You are talking about replacing everthing i believe in with metaphysical twilight zone mumbo jumbo". But other times it was so beautifully written and spoke right to the heart, i just felt she was telling the truth. And i must add here that all her claims from her life long investigations are backed up people are named etc. In all a fascinating book for all the reasons i have stated but one for me that will need to be read again, just not right now. I may buy the audio version also. It is some book! not for all i would imagine but if what she states is true then everyone should read this.Read full review
