I am half-way through "Calling In The One" and LOVE it! Enough said. A++ I find the author's writing inspirational, realistic, holistic, friendly, and full of wonderful advice! Great Gratitude for this author & her kind points of view. She captures an Amazing essence of women, (& men) and how we often choose to relate to one another. I had been thinking along the same lines, and am in the same field. I really appreciate the positivity & empathic point of view she takes. The only thing I might change would be the "7 weeks" part of the title. For a myriad of women & men "the one" comes when we are truly ready, healed, and open for that. 7 weeks might put some pressure on some women to think that is 100% literal. I see it more figuratively. A friend recommended this book, she loves it, and I would also very much recommend this book now, and in the future. Blessings.Read full review
Calling in the One isn't what you'd expect. Most of you, hearing the title, are going to think that you'll learn to get out there - to date - to do on-line dating - to chase down the "one" for you. This couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, Calling in the One is about finding yourself, about removing the blocks and obstacles that we put in our way to finding love. Katherine Woodward Thomas, a noted psychotherapist, shows us how to go inside to listen to those voices that betray us, that delay us, and stop us from living up to our potential. Because when you are living up to your own potential, you don't bother with unavailable people, with abusive people, or with those who don't want what you want out of life. As Ms. Thomas says, in the past, people married because that was what was expected of them. They often settled for the person who asked them, figuring that if this man could support them, or this woman could bring in the dowry, this would be enough. Well, that isn't enough in today's world. Today, we expect much more. We want a love that will inspire and fulfill us. We want a love that will work with us for our mission in life, and we want to know that this person will be with us for the long haul. Calling in the One helps us find out what we are really looking for - not the prince on the white horse or the lady in the castle - that we might have imagined as children. This is an adult book for adults who want to live their best lives - together with another person who shares their vision and who will stand with them shoulder to shoulder to cooperatively and happily pull the load that is life.Read full review

I'm enjoying this book very much. It's as much about knowing yourself and clearing inner obstacles to personal happiness as it is about finding relationship. Empowering oneself to be their best self, truly and authentically, is attractive any way you look at it. I like the exercises and looking at the choices I made very long ago and still operate by. Once these are seen, then the action is to stop automatice habitual responses to situations. The real power lies in refraining from going down the path of familiar, safe patterns that don't serve. I'm having fun with myself, while thinking about the relationship I want to create. We'll see what transpires. I'm stepping outside my comfort zone, in small stimulating ways, and enjoying it. Good book.
I'd attended an online seminar with Katherine Woodward Thomas and her business partner, Claire Zammit, and felt I could trust her advice on creating relationships. Her book, Calling in The One, did not disappoint me. She writes in a conversational style, with wisdom and compassion for anyone looking to change their pattern of disappointing relationships. Each chapter and the accompanying exercises lead us to our self-limiting beliefs in such a way that we can see our part in creating our life, and then move beyond the beliefs that no longer serve us. I just finished the book last night, and do feel confident that I can allow in the relationship I most desire.
