I enjoy many of Turtledove's creations. He is outrageous . He even penned a book about a civil war within Los Angeles between the SF Valley residents and the over the hill residents. Now THAT is obscure !!!!!!!!

Good book. Well constructed, not too wordy, something for everyone.

I like Harry Turtledove's writing, however I think he may have grown bored with this series. He became very predictable if you know your history and you could see what was coming way before it happens. If you started reading this series way back in the civil war you have to finish it you just have too. If you are thinking of buying it just because, you missed the whole beginning of the series. It could have been alot worse, but all in all it was worth the 10 bucks to me.
Excellent read. An incredible story of real and fictional characters and how things "might have been" if the War between the States had turned out differently. This book is a page-turner from beginning to end. The scenarios presented as well as how the characters react to them are realistic as well as thought provoking. Reading this book as well as the others in the series is definitely time well spent. Turtledove is an excellent author and makes for a very exciting and enjoyable read.
I like the Author and his way of telling the story. I have read most of his alternate History storys
