Simple, easy to read baby steps to get out of debt and build real wealth. I wish I would have read this 20 years ago. It's that good! Everyone needs this book and the younger the better.

Not what I expected
The book is well written, but the goals are not as easily accessible as portrayed. I found the budgeting forms very hard to follow, and although I have a high school education have some college education I found these forms very difficult to understand. One would need a degree in accounting to understand how to make this work. Not sure I believe the testimonials.

INSANELY AWESOME BOOK!!
I LOVE this book!!! It has SERIOUSLY helped us to get out of debt. Dave Ramsey speaks like a real person, and not like some over-educated know-it-all!!! It's an easy read, yet really helps you to TAKE ACTION, get your debt snowball rolling and get out of debt!! His quote that he uses throughout the book is "live like no one else so one day you can like like no one else". I think of this all the time, because it's so true. I read the TMM in January, and ACTUALLY PAID OF MY CAR TODAY (no joke...sent in a big fat tax return check to GMAC!!) It felt so good....but would I have paid of my car two years early if I hadn't of read this book....NO! So the TMM is amazing. It helps you take control of what you have just forgotten that you have control over: Debt. This book is a good read for people of any age.....I am just so thankful for finding it!!! Dave compares being financially fit with being physically fit, and it also helped me take control over some weight issues....you can't get fit if other parts of your life aren't fit...so we are on a Total Money Makeover and a Total Body Makeover!!! "Getting-out" of debt is--YOU taking responsibility for your actions of creating the debt and deciding to really do something about getting it PAID-OFF in FULL. Buy this book today! You can even start working on the strategies before the book arrives. Begin by NEVER borrowing money again -- do this today! That includes credit cards, family & friends, the pay-day loan store, home equity loans, debt consolidations, even CAR loans -- all designed to keep you strangled by debt! And begin to work on putting $1000 in the bank as your "emergency fund", today. Once the book arrives, you'll be eager to begin your journey to financial freedom. This book teaches things that I've never heard anywhere else. I'm living "Debt-Free"; except for a small amount remaining on my mortgage which I should be finished paying in about 2 years. I HAVE BEEN MADE OVER!!!!!
This is a great book. It is easy reading. It is also basic common sense that we all know deep in our heart, but Dave "smacks" us in the head. He lets you know what you are gaining by using credit cards - NOTHING. In fact you are losing your future. I am 55 years old and have some savings, but boy I could have been a millionaire if I would have followed this plan even 15 years ago. What a wake up call. Every young person in America needs to read this book. It needs to be taught in our school system. Maybe then people in this country will learn that the government doesn't bail you out - you do! We are each responsible for our own stupid or smart decisions. Dave Ramey is my hero! Keep it up Dave.
