This is a fascinating book, lots of details about life as a chef to the Royal family, especially Princess Diana. Only had the book a couple of weeks so haven't made a lot of the recipes yet. First recipe I made were for the Royal Tea Scones. These are too die for! The dough seems too moist using just the 3/4 cup milk, but the scones came out perfect. I've made them a couple more times since that first time, in fact I have a batch in the oven right now - this batch I put Sultanas (Golden Raisins) in. Then I tried the Beef Curry - English style. Was another hit with the family. And the only other recipe I have made so far is the Navarin of Lamb with herbed dumplings. Navarin is just a fancy French way of saying "stew", but this one is cooked in the oven. It was another big hit with the family - and like most stews it is better the next day. The dumplings have way too much liquid in and I have contacted the author to see if there was possibly a misprint. I had to add a lot more flour to the dough, But this book is well worth buying, I am making the Biscuit Cake later today for my grandson's birthday. Attaching a photo of the scones and the Navarin of Lamb.Read full review

A truly excellent recipe book, with the recipes interspersed with stories from the author's experiences of working in palace kitchens. I had the pleasure of meeting the author at a presentation he gave. I couldn't wait to buy the cookbook after hearing him speak of the royal family with such respect and warmth. The recipes are straight forward and delicious! Please try the parsnip and apple soup. It is so good. The Gaellic beef dish is also wonderful! The stories in the book about the royals and their palaces are written in the same venacular in which the author speaks. A very enjoyable cookbook. I just wish I'd owned it before meeting Darren so I could have him sign it.
What an awesome cookbook. I love the stories that accompany most of the recipes. Most of the recipes are easy to follow, because of the great directions. I love the photos, too. Some ingredients will need to be ordered online.

"Eating Royally" is an enjoyable cook book. It features some excellent recipes, including the favorite comfort foods enjoyed by Princess Diana, William, & Harry. I'll definitely prepare some of the recipes in the book and have a story to share with my guests.
Loved every minute of it and the positive insight into the royals' lives. The recipies and information about British ingredients was very much appreciated.
