I have been a diet only no Meds diabetic by following this book that I bought 15 years ago. It helped me lose weight and keep my diabetes under control. I just purchased this copy for my sister-in-law who just found out she is becoming diabetic.

It is fact based, and at a level both the average person and the average MD can find value. The book has a very good Index and Reference list. While the book is not the "Bible" on the subject, it may be as close as we can get to one - at this point in time. Not as a criticism, but to highlight the need to keep vigilant, the 1st two things I looked for in the Index where: cinnamon and vinegar. No entries were found for these diabetic diet helpers! Also, the negatives I've read regarding celery are not here. Some info is so new (and maybe tentative) one can't expect it to be in a book such as this, for example, brain damage do to excess "D" (I reduced my "D" from 3K to 2K as a precaution). Anyone interested in health should have this book, Doctor and Jo citizen alike!
Finally a help book that actually helps rather that shamelessly hawk product or babble on throughout the whole book with a few catch phrases and little substance. This book gives helpful information throughout and its not just for diabetics, as it talks about prevention as well type-1 and 2 diebetes care and maintenance. Although the information is somewhat scattered and at times repeated,it does get to the point quickly. I am currently utilizing the program for type-2 diebetics and have made great progress in control and quality of life in just a couple of months.
I read about this book on a popular online diabetes support group.. The book is usefull, cooncise. and has current info..A definate help in trying to keep your blood sugar levels stable.
For anyone with diabetes or trying to prevent its occurrence this book is entirely readable, practical, easy to understand and use in daily life. I'd give it an A+ over any other book I've read about diabetes care and prevention.
