Caveman Chuck Rock is a chunky rock-chunker with an enormous gut. He was fat and happy until the despicable Gary Gritter kidnapped his beautiful wife, Ophelia, and took her as his mate. Now Chuck is only fat. Happiness is a distant memory. Gone are the days of clubbing Ophelia on the head and dragging her around by her hair. You must help Chuck reclaim his true love. You must guide Chuck Rock through five stages of prehistoric mayhem and adventure. You will assist him in climbing the highest mountains, swimming the deepest oceans, trudging through the coldest Arctic terrain, and battling through the fiercest jungles. When you complete a stage, a password will appear. This enables you to avoid repeating earlier levels each time you begin a new game. Throughout the game you can find food that gives you extra points, hearts that restore your energy, and sleeping creatures (such as giant frogs) that will help you reach formerly out-of-reach places. In Stage One: It's a Jungle Out There, critters in trees throw coconuts at Chuck while dinosaurs and snappy alligators attack from all directions. Chuck can ward off the creatures with his patented belly-bump or flying caveman kick, or he can pick up and hurl rocks. He can ride on waterspouts or use a rock as a bridge to avoid the toxic swamp water and jump or duck to dodge rolling boulders. At the end of the level he must face Frank the Triceratops. Stage Two: Going Fishin' tests Chuck's underwater skills as he must swim around and avoid or kick sea creatures out of his way. He can also take a ride on a waterspout and use rocks to weigh himself down so he can walk on the ocean floor. The end of level boss is Nessie the Sea Monster, a creature who controls a legion of crabs. Stage Three: Caught in the Ice Age is filled with falling icicles to avoid and sliding dino-cicles to bump or kick. Mini-mammoths are friendly in that they can be used to send Chuck soaring to higher platforms. However, Wayne the Wooly Mammoth is a giant boss. Stage Four: The Happy Hunting Ground takes place at the Dinosaur Graveyard, which is full of huge skeletons. Gary Gritter calls upon his fiercest companion, Terry the Terrible Tyrannosaurus, in Stage Five: The Big Battle. Make it through this level and past the big dinosaur and you'll have reunited Chuck and Ophelia and they can go back to their cave and do whatever it is cave people do.
