Product Information
This game drops players right in the middle of a Death Trap, in which they must use their agile spaceship to disable the power reactors of a well-guarded alien intelligence known only as IT. But IT will be harder to destroy than IT may appear! The player must fire carefully timed shots toward the reactors, blasting through the force fields protecting IT (and trying not to crash into them). IT also launches deadly guided plasma projectiles that can find the player's ship with deadly accuracy (and make it hard to line up a shot). The graphics are so-so, and the extended game of dodge-ball with IT's deadly plasma bolts may wear thin on players not prepared to spend some time with an action game.

At the height of the Atari VCS's dominance of the video game industry, everybody wanted a piece of the pie -- even war gaming giant Avalon Hill who was much more accustomed to marketing complex strategic board games. In the case of games like Death Trap and other Avalon Hill VCS titles such as Shuttle Orbiter, however, the most complicated part of the game was an elaborate (and often just as easily ignored) background story in the game's manual.Product Identifiers
