About this product

Product Information

The "Halloween" horror film jumps from the silver screen to the video game screen in the Atari game created by Wizard Video Games. Just as Jamie Lee Curtis found herself as a vulnerable babysitter to the Michael Myers character in John Carpenter’s movie, "Halloween," the babysitter and her charges in this Atari video game must survive the night as they are chased from room to room by a knife wielding maniac. The babysitter must save the children by taking them to one of the four safe rooms in the house. There are two safe rooms on each of the two levels of the house. Inside each of the safe rooms is a staircase that connects the upper and lower level floors. Hallways can be found in two additional rooms both upstairs and downstairs. When the babysitter enters one of these hallways, her run for safety is expedited by skipping rooms to the next hallway. Navigation through the rooms is easier downstairs because blackouts occur unexpectedly upstairs. Search through each room, upstairs and downstairs, to find the children before they are found by Michael Myers. As soon as a child appears, move the babysitter to stand over the child, and use the joystick to lock in on the child. When locked in this way, the child will follow the babysitter to one of the safe rooms. At the top of the screen, three jack-o-lanterns reflect each of the three lives of the babysitter. If the babysitter is not successful in saving a child in time, one of the jack-o-lanterns will disappear. At the bottom of the screen, the game displays the score for each of the babysitter’s successes. Each child saved is 675 points. Occasionally the babysitter will enter a room with a black knife lying on the floor. If the babysitter can pick up the knife in time, she can use it to defend herself against Michael Myers and earn 325 points each time the knife strikes him. Two successful strikes with the knife or when five children are saved results in a level up to a more difficult level and the chance to be rewarded with higher points. When the eerie "Halloween" theme music sounds, Michael Myers is close by, so find a way out of the room for the babysitter and the children or hope that the knife will show up so the babysitter can protect them both, allowing enough time to flee to a safe room. The Halloween Atari video game can deliver the bright colored rooms and pixelated characters to the television screen when you insert the video game cartridge into the Atari 2600 game console. The history of Michael Myers may not be known to the babysitter, but gamers who are familiar with the Halloween movie series can know that it is critical to save all the children in the house. Gaming enthusiasts who prefer games from the action/adventure genre can play “Halloween” for endless hours on the Atari 2600 gaming platform. The Atari video game packaging depicts the same creepy image as the "Halloween" movie poster.
