Short and sweet, would recommend, would buy again! Recommended from a friend who now has 5. With the warranty offered I felt comfortable buying the reburb over brand new. The unit is quiet, circulates a significant amount of air and the UV system seems to work well - I _think_ I can smell the difference when it's on? - . It's a small square footprint which fits in well next to my shelf. The side exit vents are also very welcomed, you don't get too high of an intensity blowing in one direction since it's dispersed over the two tall thin side vents. One guy was saying a setting of 2 or under was needed for TV, or something like that. I honestly don't have any issue running at 4 all day with it next to my couch. At a the max setting of 5 you certainly know it's on, but it's still subtle and lower mellow frequency, not like my oven fan that starts to scream when you turn it on high. Great fan, recommended to friends and family after I got mine, which was recommended to me. Read full review

Pros: If you can get it for $60 or less, it is an ok air filter. Activated carbon pre-filter. Decent pleated filter. Very quiet on modes 1-3. Modes 4-5 are louder but only a soft, ambient white noise. Cons: HOLY MOLY THIS BLUE LIGHT RING IS SO UNNECESSARY AND OBNOXIOUS. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS???? I contacted them directly to ask how to turn off the blue light ring. I was told "it is to indicate that the UV light filter is on." No. No it is not. There is a very small, very gentle blue light on the top to indicate that the UV light is on. The GIANT BLUE RING of light on the front does nothing. It is aesthetic, and a horrible one at that. It is too bright in a bedroom at night. So one of the main features of the filter is the UV light to kill bacteria, viruses, etc, right? Well, in order to have that UV light on, the OBNOXIOUS BLUE LIGHT RING on the front MUST be on. You get both or nothing. Unacceptable. Horrible bright blue ring light design. 2/10 overall product review. Would not buy again. I have an older air filter from Germ Guardian, a silver tower that takes the same exact filter size, with identical features. It does not have an obnoxious blue light right that is required to be on when the UV light filter is on. Why would you add something so ridiculous to a perfectly good product? Read full review

Bought for an autoimmune family member. Works well and quiet I like the uv feature for added germ killing. It has adjustable speed settings so we can adjust the noise level at night.

The GermGuardian air purifier does the job it’s supposed to do. Bottom line these type of products are basically a fan with a filter which filter the air coming in through the filter, some are a little bit more complicated than others. In my opinion the GermGuardian is a very good product, my daughter suffers from allergies and she is doing much better after I got 3 of them running in different rooms throughout the house.

Okay, it's not quiet on Levels 4 or 5. Level 3 is good for watching tv or having conversations. 2 is ideal for low white noise while sleeping, and 1 is so quiet I can't hear it in a closed bedroom. The deal on the refurbs came straight from the manufacturer. That was reassuring. They look and operate like brand new. Happy customer so far (about a month).
