I bought this Mozart Opera, Le nozze di Figaro, only because of Carlo Maria Giulini's brilliant conducting of Mozart. In the old days I owned this on a stereo LP; the sound is perfectly reproduced on CD. Giulini always conducts Mozart with an incomparable, dynamic, operatic zest, especially with the New Philharmonic Orchestra. No one has ever conducted Mozart better!

This is a classic recording with the Philharmonia at its peak and great singers. But I wish the final climactic scene were taken at a slower tempo, to emphasize a hesitancy and that the plea for forgiveness is not automatically granted to the count or to the rest of us.
