About this product

Product Information

Ensure every picture is worthy of the front page with the Nikon N70 35-millimeter film single-lens reflex camera. Whether you are looking to shoot in 35mm or you need the occasional backup for your digital SLR, this camera body provides a professional option. The lens it uses is the same type as standard Nikkor DSLR lenses. You get the power of a high-end Nikon camera together with the old-school, manual photography feel of a film camera. A sleek and capable device, the Nikon N70 is easy to understand, and an instruction manual is also available. The N70's innovative LCD Command Dial is a breeze to operate with a single hand. With a twirl of the LCD wheel and the press of a button, you capture that perfect photo on film. The function button, set button, and one button, which are each used for zooming in and out, also allow you to quickly change settings off the wheel. For ease of use, the N70 instruction manual is available. In other countries, this camera is often known as the F70, but the instruction manual is the same.N70 settings include all of the basics you'd expect from a single lens camera, including flash, focus, and exposure. Autofocus mode includes the ability to focus off-center and capture fast-moving subjects in their natural surroundings. The manual focus mode also allows you to tell the camera exactly where to look. 3D matrix metering gives just the right amount of exposure for the environment, with or without using flash. Exposure options include shutter priority mode, aperture priority mode, program mode, and manual mode. In addition, the Nikon N70 comes with a built-in Speedlight flash. Exclusive to Nikon cameras, Speedlight flash is known for high-quality, innovative, and portable lighting. With the Nikon N70 camera, you are able to take pictures anywhere and anytime. The shutter speeds are fast and quiet, ranging between 30 seconds and 1/4000th of a second, and you always have the option of using flash to enhance your outdoor shots. For quick photos, the shutter release snaps images into focus with amazing speed. The motor is whisper quiet as well, making the N70 suitable for wildlife photographers who know the importance of smooth and silent snapping. For low-lighting conditions and for still moments, the long exposure option lets your lens pull in all available light without needing to rely on flash. For longer sessions, you may want a manual reload, but the camera also auto reloads film for you. For auto reloads, the camera automatically loads film at intervals you set, snapping several rapid shots in succession. The many advanced features make this camera body a great addition to any professional's gear bag, and it provides plenty of opportunities for budding hobbyists to grow their skills. For power, the Nikon N70 uses standard CR123A lithium-ion camera batteries. For film, it uses standard 35mm. Versatile, compact, and lightweight, the Nikon N70 camera is an excellent choice for discerning photographers who want to shoot and develop on film.

  • Nikon Says....

I have read unfavorable reviews on the N70 as being strange and different. Today, it fits the mold of most Nikon hands on protocol. While it's a beginner's level to Nikon's standard, it's easy to handle, solid and quick to learn format I find desirable. The 35-80mm Nikkor lens is not bad for an inexpensive lens and the light plastic barrel is not going to slow me down hiking through mountians seeking my once in a lifetime shot.

  • Excellent backup camera

I bought this to have a backup film body that I can load with another type of film so when I'm shooting with one of the pro grade Nikon film bodies I can alternate films (color vs BW). It's small, capable, with a good viewfinder and was a great bargain.

It's as described, though I would have liked to know that it was experiencing "rubber rot," making it feel rather sticky on the film door. Fortunately, I keep rubbing alcohol on hand for just such an occasion, but I did not enjoy having to scrub it off.

  • An underappreciated vintage Nikon autofocus film camera

An underappreciated vintage Nikon autofocus film camera. The F70/N70 twins, as part of Nikon's "consumer-grade" AF film SLRs, didn't get rave reviews, mainly due to an odd menu system that was part LCD, part graphics on the plastic LCD screen. That's a shame, but good for buyers in the vintage market, because they're widely available on the cheap. They can mount nearly all Nikon glass, with the possible exception of pre-AI lenses, and have a decent specification: metal vertical shutter, with speeds from 30 sec to 1/4000th sec, decent frame rate, etc. Because they're so plentiful and cheap, buy two, and hold one for a backup! One drawback is that they suffer from Nikon "sticky back," where the rubberized coating on the film door degrades and get VERY sticky. This is easy to clean, with rubbing alcohol and LOTS of paper towels! There's hard, shiny plastic underneath: not much to look at, but better than the sticky door!

  • 35 mm

What to say ?! The purchase really pleased me and my granddaughters! Everything matches the description! Thank the seller for a personal discount! A beautiful camera with an equally beautiful lens makes me climb onto dusty mezzanines to find a leather-covered box with locks, which has been stored since the distant times - Photo enlarger for photo printing films! We will have to recall the formulation of fine-grained developers and other chemicals! And Yes - the main thing! Buy urgently red Lantern!

  • Parts Purchase

I have an N70 however, I was unable to get parts for it from Nikon. So the purchase was one that I made out of desperation. I sincerely thank Roy for the item, as otherwise I would have had to throw away a decent "ole school" SLR. His cooperation is deeply appreciated and I received it in days. I sincerely thank him for being a gentleman, especially when I asked for something which we both had overlooked in the purchase. Thanks Roy, you are a Gentleman! M. Davis
