Runs great for now. i dont want to jynx it. 2 pcs and a xbox 360 hooked into it. had a linksys and a buffalo wireless router with the pcs on it. it was okay until the 360 was introduced into our home on christmas. xbox live killed it within 15 minutes every time. it totally fried the buffalo so we had to use the linksys which was being used as a reapeater and the same thing happened. i went to best buy, got 500 ft of cat6 cable, went to tiger direct and got this thing and yesterday wired my house on it. it works great for now. if it works good for a long time ill probably get the gigabit switch as an add on. the only reason i gave it 4 stars is becuase i could only access the configuration page in opera. i tried ie7, firefox and i kept getting an error message. so be prepared youll probably have to download opera web browserRead full review
Original thoughts: Well, I loved the user interface from the moment I got the router. It was blazing fast for about a week ... then we added all the devices to it, XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, several wireless computers and laptops, and one wired computer. Now it runs like a dog. Randomly runs at 1MB then 8MB then 1MB ... but mostly around 2 or 3 MB with high latency. Yuck ... When I disconnect the router and connect directly, my internet clocks at 8MB download and 800KB upload every time. 5 in a row ... so the router is clearly at fault. Sadly, I now expect to have to buy yet another router. I guess you get what you pay for ... duh. Latest thoughts: I flashed it with the latest firmware and waited until Rogers got their house in order (obviously crushed around Christmas time with every house jumping onto the net for gaming) and things stabilized to a decent level. Seems to be decent performance now and I don't see any reason to avoid the unit, especially for the price.Read full review
I consider myself a reasonably proficient computer-literate person, but I had nothing but bad times with this hardware. Switching routers should be almost as easy as changing your shirt...and it has been every time except this one. I bought this EBR-2310 to replace my old Linksys that I have to reboot maybe once every two weeks. Figured it was time to upgrade, so started researching reviews and this one came pretty highly rated. I bought it. Wishing I didn't. Upon opening the box, there was a gigantic sticker covering the ports on the back side demanding that I run a setup cd included in the package. Me thinking maybe this was important, complied. It installs this awful network monitoring program that took me a couple of hours to get rid of completely afterward. Anyway, I plugged in all my ports (I have four wired network machines and a cable modem going in) and went into the setup to manually configure my settings from the old linksys (mac address, port forwarding, dns, etc.). Right off the bat, everything worked just fine. Maybe ten minutes of full usage went by, then slowly the bottom just dropped out to nothing at all. I rebooted the router and it slowly picked up, then steadily declined. To make a long story short, this was the case throughout my dealings with it. I endured 5 phone calls to their tech support (barely english speaking) and tried a few things they recommended that may help, but nothing worked. Lastly, they wanted me to upgrade the firmware, which I did...all to no avail. It would work decently for about ten minutes, then just slowly drift off to nothing. I would begin a download of a large file off of cnet and just watch the numbers. Start around 80-120KBps, then slowly just drop. I replaced it with my old router and have had zero problems since...with the exception of the (still) having to reboot the router once every few days because it just "freezes". Maybe I just got a bad one, but I was asked to write this review and this is my experience with it. I tried everything to get it to work, but I or it failed. Since I don't want to replace me, I'm replacing the router. Hope this helps someone.Read full review
The only thing it does well on is an internet "speed test". It will not handle any reasonable amount of traffic. It bogs down and won't load the page. Surfing is EXTREMELY SLOW and sometimes impossible. I did some online research and found I was not alone with this experience. Plenty of company.

All i can say is find out if the router has to be setup or if its plug and play out of the box. I did not set my 2wire dsl modem/router to a standalone modem so i dont know if it will work at times but only time will tell as it might have ip conflics and if so will need to find out more info on how and where to change it so it acts like it should. if the seller knows how to that would be great as this is the only router i have ever bought since i have used computers back in 2004 to 2005. if seller knows and can help me please ebay message me and give me the info or where i can find out more on the settings. Note: i have a modem/router and now a router but the dsl modem has wifi so im using it in my room and dont want to be stuck using my mothers plus mj+ is the hole reason i got it as the dsl modem drops the mj out being they are hooked to the same line and sharing 1 ip address. reply asap.Read full review
