I love everything about this percolator,...

I love everything about this percolator, except for one thing: it takes about 15 minutes on above-medium heat before it starts percolating. But I don't fault this percolator; I suspect all stovetop percolators have this same issue. Once it starts percolating, I let it run for about five minutes, then turn the fire off. I then have the best coffee I have ever tasted, because the water goes through the grounds many times, as opposed to once with a standard coffee maker.

    Bad design

The design of the strainer on this percolator boggles the mind. I have tried every kind of grind of coffee from fine to course and I cannot get the water to strain through the coffee in less than half an hour. Why did they make these strange holes that clog up every time?Simple strainer holes will allow the water to pass through so that one doesnt have to leave the pot burning up on the stove and boiling away all the water just to get one cup of coffee at the end.

  • Heavy duty, yet Very lightweight and functional

I loved this so much I bought another shortly to have as spare and take to family gatherings where the coffee pot can hardly keep up. Its super sturdy, unlike the off brand version I picked up first because it was cheaper. Just get the real deal the first time and you won't regret it. Its bigger, stronger and you don't have to worry about bending the cheap metal when you wash it like the flimsier copy cats.

This is just what I was looking for! I had a cheap camp perculator to use on my propane and butane stoves during weather related power outages but was never happy with it and wanted one of better quality. This one definately fits the bill! Thanks!

  • An Old Fashioned Cup of Coffee

No Electricity required. You can easily brew your coffee on a gas stove or camp fire and have a nice old fashioned cup of coffee. Your only limitation is your own ability to brew the perfect cup.

  • Excellent coffee Pot!

I have been through many drip makers, many french press, and electric percolators, but this old fashioned stove top percolator works the best. There is a learning curve to get the brew time and strength correct but it is well worth the time. I drink stong coffee black so the coffee has to be good. I use Eight O Clock original arabica beans and I grind them at time of use. I use 26 ounces of water which is about at the 4 cup mark on the pot, this makes 2 large mugs of coffee. I steep the coffee for 20 min at 120 degrees F and increase the temp to 130 degrees F to perk for 5 to 6 min, on a Nuwave induction cooktop. I was unable to regulate the electric stovetop burner like I can the Nuwave. The base of the insert is very wide which makes it very stable. The basket has slits instead of holes which I think help prevent the grounds getting through. Very little sludge is in the pot after brewing. Just remember to remove the basket full of grounds before pouring because the grounds will pour out if you leave it in. The simple classic design of the pot makes clean up very easy, no nooks and crannies for dirt to be trapped in. I am totally happy with this percolator, a great pot that makes a great cup of coffee.

  • Amazing coffee!

The quality of this percolator is incredible. Built sturdy, easy to clean, and can handle repeated use in the harsh environment of a sailboat on the Pacific Ocean! You can drop it on the floor, chase it rolling around, then fill it up, load it with coffee grounds, and still have the best coffee you've ever made. And after brewing on a propane stove, the handle still remains cool, with excellent grip to pour. The lid also holds on nice and tight, so you don't have to worry about it coming off while you pour in rocking waves! Once you're done, a quick rinse in water, and you're ready to start all over again! I'd buy another to have a spare handy, but with the quality and durability, I feel this one will last longer than I do!

  • Best Percolator I Have Ever Used

I use a percolator when I camp. This is the best one that I have used. Don't get me wrong, I love my Mr Coffee at home. The spring on the percolating tube holds the basket against the lid and no grounds get into the coffee. It is higher quality than the basic camping percolator. Plan to get another one for my hunting camper.

  • High quality and easy to use and clean.

This is the coffee percolator that I have been looking for a long time. It takes me back to my boyhood at grandma's house when the aroma of fresh brewed coffee filled the kitchen each morning. The Yosemite is a high quality percolator in every way. So glad I got mine. I would recommend this product to anyone.
