Let me first say that I have used this model coffeemaker since they first came out. I like it very much, but with age a plastic disk and rubber gasket that were fixed in the upper jaw came loose. I ordered another unit as a replacement--hence my eBay purchase. The new unit was a complete bust! I first pushed the lever back that operates the jaw. The spring controlling the jaw was completely nonfunctional, and the jaw would only open halfway. I was finally able to force the coffee pod holding pieces into that opening and seated them. I put water in the holding tank, plugged the unit in, and pushed the button to start the water going through. Almost immediately, what I thought was steam came pouring out and the unit shut off. I pushed the button again. I now realized it was smoke--and the unit shut off after about three seconds. My son was able to swap out the upper jaw on the new unit with the damaged one on my old unit. My old unit is now functional again and works just fine.Read full review
The Black & Decker HCC100 (www.blackanddeckerappliances.com) is one of the new brewers that uses 'pods' of coffee or coffee-drink flavors to make a cup of coffee at a time. The HCC100 comes in white or black and sells for about $59.95 at Rite Aid, Target Walgreens and of course, eBay! I thought this would be a great unit to have in my own personal office space, for those times when the larger office pot was out or early in the morning before the regular coffee was made. I hate it. Not only is it cheaply made, making a single cup of coffee using a standard short mug, results in coffee splashing all around the unit. It actually takes me more time to clean up after making a cup, than it takes to make a regular pot of coffee using filters and coffee packs.
This single serving coffee maker is poorly made and over priced! Structure is cheap and ackward. It uses "pods" and produces a coffee that is weak and artificial tasting (even worse than instant coffee). When you brew a single serving into a coffee mug it makes the biggest mess, splashing coffee all over the appliance, your mug, and the counter. The coffee maker is also over sized and impossible to fit into cupboards (since it's too hideous to have out on the counter and you don't want to use it anyway). You're better off going for one of the mini carafe coffee makers or one that can brew a few cups at a time. Whatever you do... don't get this one!
I have had 3 of these coffee makers over quite a few years. They make an fast, excellent cup of coffee and are easy to maintain. I like the one cup at a time because it is always fresh.

This coffee maker makes one cup of coffee using pods which are made by Senseo or Folgers. One can also use cappucino pods by inserting a different pod holder. I find the second pod holder to be difficult to insert, and actually broke one coffee maker trying to insert the cappucino pod holder. However, I do like the concept of one-cup, always fresh coffee. The pods are somewhat expensive ($4.50 for 18 pods in local grocery store). These units sell for $69 in most stores, but you can get one on e-bay for $20 or so, and I found one at a Goodwill store for only $5. So, don't pay TOO much!
