Worked on arrival; good story
I wish I had the time to determine the historical accuracy of this film; I don't. I know the church & staircase exist; I'm sure the basic story is true. The problem is, folks that make films about historical events think they have a right to "artistic license". If I were king, they wouldn't have this right. IMHO if they want to write fiction, they should write fiction; if they want to do history, they should do accurate history. (A good example of reasonably good historical accuracy would be "Miracle".) As a film like this is likely the only place most folks will encounter this story, "artistic license" allows the filmmaker to alter the truth, in most folks minds, forever. As already mentioned, I wish I had the time to check out this film's historical accuracy.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Interesting Story Behind the Staircase
After having visited the actual staircase in Santa Fe, NM, thought it would be interesting to see more of the supposed truth behind its construction. The actors were good and believable, but doubt that what is presented in the movie is how things actually happened. I am sure "dramatic liberties" were taken to enhance the drama of the building of the staircase. Never-the-less, the staircase is the actual star of the film.
