This book is very helpful for people who have a desire to learn German, whether they are beginners or have a basic knowledge of the language and just need to brush up. For those just needing a refresher, the beginning is rather simple, intended for the newcomers to the language. However, as the book progresses, there are a lot of conversations, scenarios, phrases and short stories that keep your attention, therefore making you want to learn even more, and they are useful for everyday conversations. The format is interesting, with some pictures, some bold print to break up the monotony, and answers to the quizzes in the back. The only dislike I have for the book is that it does introduce new words that are often not tranlated, neither in the corresponding chapter nor in the dictionary located in the back of the book. Having a dictionary to use with it is therefore recommended. I first saw this book in my local library and ended up liking it so much that I wanted a copy for myself. I recommend this book for both beginners and those with some basic knowledge of German, but I would not recommend it for the advanced.Read full review
