I was looking for a good game, that everyone in the family would like. So i picked out Family Feud. I thought it was going to be good, but when I turned it on, NOT what I wanted it to be. Good things: Good questions to keep someone playing for a while You can create your own family Good sound Bad things: Horrible graphics for when it was made 20 seconds of time for fast money, 10 seconds for answering normal questions (Some people cant type that fast on a ps2 controller!) The families dont look like PS2 graphics Unless you dont care about graphics, and you can type in letters fast with the PS2 controller, this game would be at the bottom of the 'to get list'.
I was looking forward to this game, as over the years I've purchased the Family Feud board games, and other Electronic formats. I received it and like most things when you get it, you try it out right away. I haven't played it much, my family doesn't like the graphics, and the answers you have to use the controller to type in the message--that makes it difficult. There are some nice features, but overall it is not that great. It could be more realistic with designing your people, it also could be better if they used the same rules as the TV show. It's the first family to a designated total, not the most after the rounds. After they do the triple score round, then they ask questions with only one answer and who ever gets that-even if that family was at zero and the other team was at 299...that ZERO team would win.Read full review
Family feud for the PS2 is very similar to the long running television show. It is good fun, however it is difficult for kids under 12 to play alone, and I'll explain why later. The database of questions is quite extensive, as I haven't had any repeats yet. Overall, a good game that could be tweaked into a great game. The good: Huge database of questions with three different difficulty levels. A few unlockables such as the vintage studio resembling where the original TV game took place. The bad: The amount of time given in the bonus round is nowhere near long enough for kids to type in their answers. Even I, as an adult, sometimes run out of time. Navagating an on-screen keyboard with a PS2 controller isn't the the most efficient method of entering answers. Make this game headset compatible, and it would be improved 1000% The times given are similar to the TV show, but their should be an option to turn off the clock. The ugly: The graphics and AI of the game are horrendous. The people on the families look similar to aliens alot of the time, and they all have the same body movement. Also, alot of the time the AI doesn't answer the question, no matter how easy it seems to be. Overall, this is a good game with a moderate replay value, but could be much, MUCH better with a little more development and refinement. Improving the graphics alone would improve the game tremendously. Score: 7/10Read full review
HAVING PLAYED FAMILY FUED ON THE SNES & PS1, I WOULD HAVE TO RANK THIS ONE IN THE MIDDLE. THE BEST PART OF THE GAME IS THE FINAL ROUND. QUESTIONS ARE UP TO DATE WHICH IS A PLUS FOR A GAME SHOW GAME,BUT YOU GET VERY LITTLE TIME TO ANSWER A QUESTION. ANSWER GRID IS SET UP LIKE A KEYBOARD WHICH CAN BE CONFUSING ALSO. WHEN YOU STOP TO THINK HOW TO SPELL A WORD A TIMER COUNTS DOWN WHICH CAN ALSO CAN MAKE YOU WORRY ABOUT THE CLOCK RATHER THAN GET THE ANSWER RIGHT. AN OK GAME FOR ADULTS BUT KIDS UNDER 10 CAN FORGET ABOUT IT.
Bought this to play with my teen daughter because we are so competitive with each other while watching on tv. It IS a fun PS2 game with a few things that could be made a bit better. First, the graphics create some strange-looking people that even move weirdly. Most other games we have for the PS2 have much more realistic looking people. Biggest headache is that unless you have a PS2 keyboard, good luck on getting through the fast money stage. Even the fastest typist is going to have a lot of trouble navigating the on screen keyboard. Timing seems unusually fast even with the regular answering. That is our main complaint. The poor graphics are really a minor bug since the whole game itself is still a lot of fun to play & that is the reason we bought it. I know we'll play it many times.
