I'm giving this game 4 out of 5 stars because it's fun but it is also quite difficult to play with the exception of the retro part which is quite easy to play. The second version is a little more complex because it is the newer and has a twist to it. It's a little bit harder to explain but for kids it would be quite difficult. I'm nearly 49 years old and I have a difficult time to play the more updated version of this game. Anyways the whole objection of this game is you spit out bubbles and try to capture enemies before they attack and that's pretty much sums up the game. Sounds easy? In the beginning yes, but as you progress, the enemies become more fierce and are more difficult to capture. Oh,of course there is a boss to battle but only when you succeed in clearing the course parts. I don't really know how many bosses there are in total but I have not reached that point yet. Anyhow, overall it's Fun and challenging game, but I prefer the retro part because it's easier to play. While the modern version is more challenging.Read full review

This is my second time buying this game. I lost the original one I bought. Thats pretty much how you'll know this game is awesome, usually when I lose a DS game I just buy a brand new game to replace it, I like variety. This game however was one of my FAAAAAAAAAAAAVORITE games on the Super Nintendo and I use to check out from Blockbuster ALL THE TIME!!!!! I probably couldve bought the game with money I spent checking it out all the time. The game gives you 2 versions but I love the original and basically it ROCKS!!!!!!! I can play this game for days without ever getting bored. Im so happy to have gotten the game back!!!!!! I LOVE BUBBLE BOBBLE!!!!!!!!!!
True to the Bubble Bobble original game. Still addictive as is was years ago!!! If you want to play with someone else you need to get a second game because its a multi-card game. I'm not a big fan of the "new age" game that's included on this title but my kids like it so it cant be that bad.
Up-Side: Awesome classic game to play! Tons of fun as I remember! Down-side: Jumping on bubbles doesn't work as well as it used to! =( The new Bubble Bobble seems too difficult to play on the DS with dual screens.
Why would a game company release a game that was defective out of the box? Not sure but Codemasters did with this one. The new version of the game is defective and you can not get past level 30 due to a flaw (the boss character is missing. This flaw prevents you from beating the game. At best, this game is a tech demo but it is absolutely not able to be finished and thus not worth the price. Disappointing.
