I bought this book for a college workshop, which was taught by the author Tom Buckles. It is a concise reference book that covers all the bases, but could further discuss the law, although that area is covered more in other law books. There is a graphic picture of a human brain in the ballistics section, which, while another evidence picture such as a bullet hole could be a better substitute, it does show what investigators find at a crime scene - not always glamorous stuff. The book also explains the new phenomenom of the "CSI effect", the effect of t.v. shows on a jury and how it benefits a defendant. People expect evidence to be black and white and results to be immediate. Of course, problems don't fix themselves in 25 minutes. I plan to keep this book when I begin my paralegal career next year as it makes for a good refernece book on the science of crime scene reconstruction.Read full review
