Wow where to begin with the start of a masterpiece i remember playing street fighter 2 on an arcade machine and the first console release is very true to the arcade such an awesome series any of the street fighter games are worth adding to your collection the first one tho is def an enjoyable experience to see where it really started and took off

I wasn’t able to write a review earlier because I barely bought a snes but once I started playing this game I realized it would only play for 5 minutes before it would go into a black screen. I tried cleaning the game but still the black screen. It would only start working again once I reset it. My other games play perfectly but not this one. Very sad because I wanted to play this.

Street Fighter II follows several of the conventions and rules already established by its original 1987 predecessor. The player engages opponents in one-on-one close quarter combat in a series of best-two-out-of-three matches. The objective of each round is to deplete the opponent's vitality before the timer runs out. If both opponents knock each other out at the same time or the timer runs out with both fighters having an equal amount of vitality left, then a "double KO" or "draw game" is declared and additional rounds will be played until sudden death. In the first Street Fighter II, a match could last up to ten rounds if there was no clear winner; this was reduced to four rounds in Champion Edition and onward. If there is no clear winner by the end of the final round, then either the computer-controlled opponent will win by default in a single-player match or both fighters will lose in a 2-player match. After every third match in the single player mode, the player will participate in a "bonus game" for additional points. The bonus games includes (in order) a car-breaking event similar to another bonus round featured in Final Fight; a barrel breaking bonus game where the barrels are dropped off from a conveyor belt above the player; and a drum-breaking bonus game where drums are flammable and piled over each other. The bonus games were removed from the arcade version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo (although they're featured in the Game Boy Advance version). Like in the original, the game's controls uses a configuration of an eight-directional joystick and six attack buttons. The player uses the joystick to jump, crouch and move the character towards or away from the opponent, as well as to guard the character from an opponent's attacks. There are three punch buttons and three kick buttons of differing strength and speed (Light, Medium and Heavy). The player can perform a variety of basic moves in any position, including grabbing/throwing attacks, which were not featured in the original Street Fighter. Like in the original, the player can perform special moves by inputting a combination of directional and button-based commands. Street Fighter II differs from its predecessor due to the selection of multiple playable characters, each with their distinct fighting styles and special moves. Unintentionally, a 'bug' in the games code enabled the player to 'cancel' during the animation of some moves by performing another move, allowing for a combination of several basic and special moves. The hottest arcade game of 1991 was adapted successfully and nearly perfect for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Capcom set the standard in fighting games with eight unique characters from around the world. The SNES allows players to customize the controls for easier game-play which could only be played correctly on this console at the time. The secret code allows access to the ultimate match for both players to select the same character. The graphics are impressive and Yoko Shimomura's score is the most unforgettable in any video game.

It has become apparent to me that at any given point in time, a person may find themselves to be involved in an event of revolutionary proportions without even the slightest notion of what is happening around them. This is exactly the exeperience I had with Street Fighter II about thirteen or so years ago. All I really remember, is wanting to play the game every moment I was breathing, and doing everything I could to ensure a weekend of engrossing gameplay. The usual checklist was always kept in clear sight. Chores, grades, homework, Church, and then games. From there, all I remembered was being entranced by the stunning visuals, quick for its time gameplay, great backstory, and balanced characters with their stunning moves. Across the board, both now and back then, Street Fighter II scores a perfect 10 for me. My judgment as of now, is based on sentimentality, as well as a better understanding of what makes a great game. What is even more amazing is that even back in those days, without the influence of outside reviews or accolades to its name, I still considered Street Fighter II to be one of the greatest games I had ever played. This game is a great buy, both for the casual gamer, but even more for one interested in some of the better productions of our time. This game stays mostly true to the arcade port that launched the beginning of the Street Fighter II craze that would sweep not only the nation, but the world. The Super Nintendo version of the game allowed players to bring the complex fighting game into their homes and learn more and more about the strengths and weaknesses of their favorite fighters as well as all of their moves. This version only has the original 8 world warriors to choose from, Street Fighter II Turbo and Super Street Fighter II have greatly expanded rosters that include fan favorites such as Cammy, Vega, and playable M. Bison. Overall a good way to start off or complete your Street Fighter collection.
A part of the very few arcade games listed as THE BEST and LEGENDARY next to Metal Slug, with the help of some form of witchcraft and sorcery, you now have this cult arcade classic in a wee little plastic cartridge to play on your Super Nintendo! I can safely say that I have spent over $1,000 in quarters playing this game against my friends in the arcade lot back in my childhood days. And for the little price of $15, I can now reminisce of the golden days while I pound away at my friends with Chun Li in the very comfort of my home. There is nothing better than purchasing a 20 year old video game, finding out it still works, and reliving your childhood all over again. I can't begin to explain the excitement I felt as I inserted the game (minus a blow or two to get the dust out! as we all have done in the cartridge game days) and hearing the distinct sound of the title screen that i'd heard a million times growing up. Fighting through the opponents to get to the secret bosses and eventually the final boss, was a phenomenal experience. I couldn't help but become fully involved as my aged fingers tried desperately to find the buttons they once navigated without error, only to realize, i am older, i have lost my edge, but i am still very determined to win! Love the game, enjoyed the memories of playing with my dad and never wanting to stop for dinner or sleep. I recommend spending a few bucks and reliving the times that helped create who we have become these days. It's a cost effective way to recreate a time that can never be obtained again.
