Randy Alcorn is a prolific Christian author. I treasure his work . . .

Ok, I'll admit it, this was a little hard to get in to. And, it was long. Alcorn's writing has definitely come a long way since 1996. BUT...This book is definitely worth reading. An inner city gang-land murder mystery with tons of character development. I had to finish this book to see whodunit. However, everyone should read this book for the insight into the gangs and racial issues of inner-city America. My eyes are a lot more open to my own prejudices. I would have sworn "I'm Not Prejudiced", before reading this book. I'm not sure I can say that, now. I can say, "I still have work to do". I know that I have thoughts, just like characters in this book, that are grounded in prejudices I didn't even know I had. Yes, there is mystery and suspense in the story line too. No one does research like Alcorn. No one writes like Alcorn. If you are new to Alcorn's fictional writing, I suggest you start with this book, then "Deadline". I promise you won't be sorry.Read full review
I thought this book was better than the 1st one, "Deadline". Maybe I'm getting used to his style of writing. I agree with the other reviewer, it made me reconsider my views and whether I still have work to do on judging not by appearance and skin color. I think we can see that no matter which side of the "color barrier" we are on, we all need to work to look at the individual. Randy Alcorn's novels are all thought-provoking, and I am becoming a fan. If you enjoy light reading, I wouldn't recommend his novels.
Yes. I had read another book by the same author. Good, captivating read.

One of the best I’ve read! This is one of few books that give insight to the racial conflicts of our day. Not from the white mans view, but the black man. This book helps us to understand that we all struggle at times with our own inward prejudices. The author has not only given the thrill of suspense, but a knowledge of what we can do when we work together. However I would not recommend this for younger readers.
