Being a Stephen King fan since the beginning, I insist on giving him literary license. I loved the book. He can get into anybody's head he wants to. The story is easily identified with, terrifyingly so. However, the only drawback I found was when I tried to put my 9-year-old grandson in the place of the girl, God forbid...well,I just don't think 9-year-olds are that savvy. That brought me out of the story a bit sometimes. Anyway, I loved it, and I love that psycho genius.
I had refused to read Stephen King novels because I was afraid of the psychological fear factor. A friend insisted that I try this one and now I am a Stephen King fan. Even though he uses some dialect, the language is not "dumbed down" in fact it is often lyrical. Character development is amazingly interesting. The "Girl" becomes so real that you find yourself right there with her, evaluating her decisions and heroic character. A real page turner, or in this case a CD I found myself carrying from car player to house player because I couldn't stop listening.
This is a great tweener story for adults also. I loved listening to this and it is wonderfully spoken.

Great story, has suspense and anticipation. The main charactor is one guttsy little girl who never gives up. I just loved her moxie. Another great story by King.
This novel by Stephen King is not his usual demonic storyline. Its about a girl who get lost in the woods and depends on the "crush" she has on a major-league baseball player to see her through this hardship. I enjoyed this story very much as a book and an audiobook.
