Notes2019 release. Reese Wynans is best known as keyboard legend and member of Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble. Reese was in that iconic band from 1985 until Vaughan's tragic death in 1990. He is releasing his first solo album in his 50-year career, Sweet Release - produced by Joe Bonamassa. The album includes incredible guests including; Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Warren Haynes, Vince Gill, Keb' Mo, Doyle Bramhall II, Bonnie Bramlett, Sam Moore, Chris Layton and more. The whole album is a celebration of the music that influenced Reese and so many others which showcases SRV & Double Trouble songs, Allman Brothers, Tampa Red and more
I’m a huge blues fan, and thought this could be a good concept. However let’s really look at things. It’s a piano/organ player from numerous bands. He’s not a singer, he’s not a lead, he’s barely a “side man” in ANY band. They get a karaoke guy to sing on the good songs which in my opinion ruined it.
I keep coming back to WHY he had to put out a CD??!! This is a complete waste of money and time. One of the biggest disappointments I’ve ever dropped cash on.
Save yourself...
I like the Hammond B3 and Reece is one of the best. Unlike the other reviewer I found it enjoyable to hear a good side man choose his guest to play with. And it was good to hear his takes with other players on great classic material. I really enjoyed Sam Mores vocals outside his norm. I rate it as good as Earl Scruggs And Friends from a few years back.
