Family Affair was a popular situation comedy and a regular top 20 hit show for CBS-TV during its five-year run from 1966-71. Brian Keith stars as bachelor Bill Davis, a highly-paid engineering consultant who lives in a posh Manhattan apartment with his proper English manservant, Mr. Giles French (Sebastian Cabot). Davis’ carefree existence is turned upside down when his brother and sister-in-law die suddenly in a tragic plane accident, leaving their three children orphaned. Davis becomes an instant father figure to six year-old twins, Buffy and Jody (Annisa Jones, Johnnie Whitaker) and their big sister, Cissy (Kathy Garver). Despite their reservations, Davis and French grow attached to the children. Through humorous trial and error, coupled with big doses of love and patience, the five become a real family. Not only was the series a household favorite, but Buffy’s best friend and confidante, Mrs. Beasley was a huge star in her own right. The talking Mrs. Beasley doll was first introduced in 1967. Coloring books, paper dolls, games and a Family Affair lunch box soon followed. Just like Buffy, the highly collectible Mrs. Beasley was a source of friendship and comfort to little girls everywhere. I bought the first season of "Family Affair" because it was my favorite show growing up, and now thanks to DVD I can relive those memories all over again. The show takes place in New York and includes the characters Buffy, Jodi, Sissy, Uncle Bill and Mr French. The show is just as good as when it aired in the late sixties, and I never get tired of watching it. When I was a kid I wanted to live with Uncle Bill to. The show has a warm heart and is fun for the whole family! They just don't make shows the way they used to, and that's why I keep watching "Family Affair"!
Family Affair - it takes me back to my childhood. To watch Buffy, Jody and Cissy as they arrive at Uncle Bill's is the best! I have loved this show since I was small and watching it now brings back so much. It is definately family entertainment at it's best. I wish that all the cast memebers were still alive to do the new "reunion" shows, but that is a tragedy in itself. I notice that Johnny Whitaker has grown to look so much like Brian Keith - it is as if they were really related. If you want real simple, family entertainment, this set is the one to choose.
I used to watch this show, back when I was about "Jody's" age. In transferring them to a drive, I noticed that this program is still as good, as it was FIFTY?? years ago!!? It's Still funny, and heart warming, as ever, and it entertains, and without any sexual jokes, put-downs, or bad language. Watch these shows, and you will see how far "Entertainment" has fallen! The apartment needs updating now, but the messages are timeless, even though Sebastian Cabot, Brian Keith, and Buffy have gone on to Bigger Engagements in A New Theater, in a better place!! Get yours today, you'll be pleased, I'm sure

Great nostalgia -- TV was so much gentler in the 60s. Perfect viewing during this difficult COVID time in particular. The entire cast is excellent. I must say I hate the theme song, both the music and the orchestration. But I skip past it.

Just a great wholesome "Family" series from a better time to us "oldsters"... but I think young kids would enjoy it, too.
