Great affordable guitar for surf music!
I played guitar as a teenager years ago and recently decided to pick it up again. I wanted to try a Jaguar after reading up on the best guitars for a classic surf music sound. The shorter scale neck is perfect for the thicker flat wound strings that help with the surf sound. I replaced the 9-42 round wound strings that came with the guitar with a set of D’Addario XL 11-50 ECG24 flat wounds. What a difference with the heavier gauge and smooth feel of the new strings. Of course, you can play other types of music with these strings but they really bring out the classic sounds of surf songs. The Squire Jaguar was also an affordable option at around $400 for a really nice looking guitar with a great sound. I chose the classic black color. It is very well made and looks like a much more expensive guitar. Pick one up. You won’t be disappointed.

If you're looking for a Jag, just buy it!
Over the years I've owned several Jaguars. American, Japanese. Dollar for dollar this one has them all beat. Other than a truss rod adjustment and shimming the neck (I've had to do that with all my Jags) this guitar hasn't needed anything. Stays in tune! Sounds awesome!
