I had forgotten a couple of details!
I had a SanDisk years ago and it worked very well. BUT... two things that I really didn't like was the way it EATS batteries. Seriously... it will devour them. A big negative. The second thing I did not like and still do not like is the fact you cannot delete from the device unless it is plugged into your computer. I listen to Old Time Radio shows so, when I finish listening to a show, I want to delete it so it is not in the playlist any longer. But, I can't run to the computer and plug in the device after every show. I just keep a little piece of paper and a pencil nearby to log the shows I have listen to so that I can delete them when I get time. HOWEVER... sometimes, when I delete the files from the device while it is plugged into my computer, they don't show to be on the SanDisk any longer, yet when I disconnect it from my computer, put in the earphones for a listen... BOOM the deleted files are still there. The only way to get the files off the device is to format it. And, of course that deletes EVERYTHING. An oldie but goodie.
Love this little MP3 ... I bought one when they first came out along with the speaker dock that goes with it. I've used it in my barn for almost 20 years ... which is saying something with all the dust and such that builds up. The old tape players and cds didn't last long in that environment. I bought this one ((and another speaker dock) for the house ... wanted something small to use in my diningroom/kitchen that doesn't take up a lot of space. And I can easily take the whole thing from room to room, or just take the MP3 with earbuds when I'm out and about. Sound quality is good but the controls are a bit confusing until you figure out the menus and which button to push when. The battery life is good. I rarely use it just on battery, but it's almost always still charged when I do. The memory could be a little larger but you can get many hours of music on it. Excellent for what is does
Contrary to another review, this device has good battery life, ASSUMING you use good ALKALINE batteries. The specs say 19 hours. I've never timed it, but I can use it for many days on a single battery, as I work outdoors and love to have my music as I work. Also there was a complaint that you cant delete files without a computer. This is true, but not a problem, and that disgruntled reviewer's other complaints didnt make sense. I LOVE this device because it is simple to use, and does what it is designed to do, play audio files. My only complaint, is that it can get the files out of order with audiobooks, but I have figured a way to fix that with a tool called mp3tag that lets me change how the device orders the files, so now I have no complaints, and own many of these inexpensive players, and have never even wanted the expensive but fancy Ipods.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
