It has been over 20 years since I have sewn. This machine makes everything so much easier. It was not difficult to learn the abundance of features (I still have a lot to learn). Being computerized, it has a help guide right on the machine for basic operations with just a push of a button. I love the automatic cutting feature, the bright light, the ease of threading the machine, the up/down needle choice and the 103 stitches (although I have yet to use many of them), The computer screen is a good size and very easy to read. Depending on your sewing preference, you can use the foot pedal or just push the stitch button. I have used all three speeds on the machine which I find extremely convenient depending on what I am doing. The embroidery feature is so much fun. The quality of the embroidery is amazing. I did have an issue getting the embroidery foot on the machine. Like with everything else, after a few times, it gets easier. I had read articles not to purchase a two in one machine. I am glad that I didn't listen. The machine performs extremely well in both the sewing and in the embroidering. I do have an issue with the pressure foot lever. Being left-handed, it has been an adjustment for me as I have to reach under the machine. The pressure foot lever is located on the right-hand side behind the pressure foot. I wish they could have put it on the back of the machine like my old one. The only other thing that I wish was better is the marking plate. It has the measurement markings, but there is a grid (not sure what the grid is for - maybe quilting?) that is more prevalent and difficult for me to see the "inch" markings. I am used to sewing at the 5/8" mark and it is a challenge at times to make sure I am staying at that marking. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and glad that I got the two in one. I know that I will have many years of fun and creative projects. Read full review

I was curious about embroidery, mostly from the design standpoint so studied on YOUTUBE. After completing a few fun projects, I was not able to judge if the files would sew without having a machine. The Brother units come highly recommended and the SE625 has a high rating for an entry level machine. Ebay is my normal stop for things like this as you can find much better deals than anywhere else and this was no exception. The unit was brand new and purchased well under any on Amazon for the exact same model. I purchased this one even cheaper than the SE 600, which was my target product. The SE 625 is exactly the same with a higher price only because it includes a bunch of embroidery files that you really do not likely need. This was a great deal for me and the product is excellent.

I ordered this for my wife to replace her bare-bones White sewing machine, which died while she was trying to make a bunch of COVID masks to donate. Based on her feedback, the machine is extremely easy to use, had more features than she had ever dared dream, and opened up a whole new world of embroidery. She's extremely pleased. We just have one nit to pick - it is very finicky about which thumb drives it would accept. I'm an IT guy, and I'm lousy with them. We went through 6 or 7 that would either not work at all, or only work once and then stop, including several that were on the "official" published compatibility list. She was not able to get consistent results until I gave her an ancient 128K thumb drive from about 15 years ago when that was a novel thing. So if you want to transfer designs, be prepared for some trial and error on the thumb drive front. It would be a great enhancement to build in some storage and allow it to connect to a computer directly through a USB cable to transfer design files.Read full review

Arrived quickly. Works well. Great for a beginner or intermediary sewer. Beginner embroidery. More expensive machines take larger hoops, and have auto tension and knee lifts. But for an inexpensive machine brother still gives you many features from their high price high performance machines.

Amazing Price! Just think how many of these you could buy over 1 Bernina. It's embroidery gone digital at a reasonable price, plus my wife wanted an upgraded sewing machine. (put thousands of hours on a singer start that we think has reached its end after 2 years and over 100 dresses.) it's not a bernina, but you could buy one every year for the next 5 and still not pay what you have into a Bernina. 3.5x3.5" Embroidery Area, (somewhat limiting) (you probably could embroider much larger in sections) Fully digital embroidery with a USB port (comes with CD of 200 designs but we started quickly making our own with a bit of photoshop knowledge and .jpg conversion using a program called SewArt. (free 30 day trial on that, so spend the next 29 days designing all you can! but love the ease of that program too, online video tutorials helped get me converting images in 2 hours) (I do have some digital graphic knowledge) Anyway, Someone may find it difficult to get from the CD to the USB, just be aware, if you don't have a computer. I also really like the full color image readout on it, very important to keep track of when you need to change up embroidery threads. As a sewing machine it works great too and didn't take much to get started. How long will it last? Only time will tell (that's why it's only 4 stars) My wife sews daily, and if we get more that 1.5 years out of it, it has definitely earned it's 5th star. Read full review
