Amazing capability for the price.
I bought this one because it was a bit cheaper than the mainstream units (with the countersunk screws), and was concerned that it might not be as good. But it seems fine and I'm very pleased with it - calibrates ok and gives consistent results.
Downsides/limitations. Given the price of course there are limitations. They include:
- you have to disassemble the thing (all the buttons will fall out) to remove the screen protector sheet.
- it's not a VNA and doesn't have any phase information.
- no calibration loads or test cables provided.
- lowest frequency is not very low.
Good points:
- the frequency range is great for a cheap device and includes 2.4GHz Wifi (but not 5GHz)
- well built
- battery lasts a surprisingly long time - hours, though I've not measured it.
- it's also a usable signal generator up to 2.7GHz (square-ish wave, output level is not constant with frequency and can't be adjusted, but still...).
- frequency is accurate by its nature.
Suggestions:
- Use it for checking and setting up your wi-fi antennas
- buy a nanoVNA as well and you cover from 50KHz to 2.7GHz. It won't be long before the nanoVNA device is extended to 3GHz or more, at which time this device will be pretty well redundant. But until then, this is the goods.
