So happy I purchased this Corro Protec powered titanium water heater anode!!! I read numerous blog sites, where people were able to reduce their sulfur smell (but not eliminate it) by installing magnesium anode rods. So my logic was, if I spend $60 on a magnesium rod and it doesn't eliminate the smell, I'm going to have to spend even MORE money to go to the powered anode rod. Thus, I purchased the Corro Protec and didn't even bother trying the magnesium rod. And boy oh boy, am I happy I went with the powered rod!!! I installed it, and within 2 hours, the sulfur smell was almost completely gone. At 6 hours there was just a *hint* of a sulfur smell - but it could have just been that I had become accustomed to the smell (sort of a Pavlov's dog effect in my brain) LOL. But the next morning (which was about 20 hours after the install) there was ZERO smell to my hot water. How refreshing to take a shower without that rotten egg smell. Or doing laundry with no sulfur smell... or the dishwasher...!!! I installed this on a 2015 AO Smith ENT50 50-gallon water heater. I had to use a dremel tool to enlarge the sheet metal around the old anode rod (you need a 1.375" socket to install the powered anode rod, and a 1.0625" to remove the old anode rod). But other than that, the installation was simple. The directions were simple. I am not a plumber, so I had to purchase the correct size sockets - but even being a NOOB, it only took about an hour to install. But 45 minutes of that time, was grinding the sheet metal hole larger so the sockets would fit. (In other words, this only takes 15 minutes to install if your hole in the sheet metal is already large enough for the sockets) Just can't emphasize how pleased I am with the results of this - HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!!Read full review

I replaced my old water heater 2 months ago due to it rusting and leaking. I had removed the anode rod 30 years ago due to stinking rotten egg smell if the hot water. The new one was fine until we were gone for a week and it sat unused. when we returned home we were welcomed with the surprise of the return of the stench. After much research I came to the conclusion that Because I have a water softener I needed to replace the anode not merely remove it as softened water conducts the electrolysis that promotes rust. I chose this product and am happy to say that the smell went away almost immediately! the old anode was only 2 months old and was already corroded badly. I recommend this product 100% Thank You for making this amazing item! Jerry

Residential well system in the Midwest. The hot water tank reeked of rotten eggs-tried EVERYTHING...aluminum rod, zinc rod, no rod, industrial triple stage filtration, huge UV light water sterilizer, chlorination system, even just replacing the whole hot water tank and flushing or bleaching once every week or 2. Rotten egg and sulfur odors ALWAYS came back. Finally found THIS powered anode rod! FOR ANYONE WITH SULFER ODOR IN JUST THE HOT WATER SIDE OF YOUR WATER SYSTEM, THIS WORKS! I slapped this puppy into the tank and gave it one full flush and refill with fresh water, plug the little (it's literally much smaller than the normal rods) bad boy into the outlet and no more rotten eggs!! I am extremely satisfied with this product this far and would recommend it to everyone with this issue. I know this review sounds like a hokey product endorsement but after almost a year of all out war with my well system, this little powered rod was my finally the weapon to end the fight and make sure my wife never complains about taking a shower or brushing her teeth again. Much praise for the developers of this product!Read full review

I had HORRIBLE rotten egg smelling/tasting hot water because I'm on well water. In doing research, I learned there was nothing wrong with the water. The culprit was the sacrificial anode in my water heater tank. Some plumbers in the area suggested removing the anode completely, but that would lead to the failure of the water heater within three-five years. I read the reviews from other people that purchased and installed this device and ordered it immediately. I couldn't wait to get it because taking a shower, doing laundry or washing the dishes was nauseating. As soon as I received it, I set about installing it. Getting the old anode out was EXTREMELY difficult, but not out of my abilities. I simply hit the ratchet with a hammer until the old anode let loose and (because of a lack of work space) used a pair of locking pliers to clamp off the anode while I cut the old anode free. Installing the Corro-Protec anode was infinitely easier than getting the old one out. Heck... putting the insulation back on the water heater was more difficult than installing the anode. I'm happy to report that after draining and refilling the tank, we do not have an issue with the hydrogen sulfide rotten egg smell/taste in our hot water. I have told all my relatives and friends about this product because it works so well. I don't take the time out of my day to write reviews for mediocre products. I'm so pleased with how well the powered anode works, writing a review was a pleasure. BTW... I had a technical question for the manufacturer, so I called the number provided in the paperwork. The gentleman who answered the phone (in French, but he does speak English as well, so don't hang up) knew every aspect of this product and was able to answer all my questions.Read full review

Installation was relatively easy. No operational issues over the past two years. Don't know if the technology is effective yet... and hope I never have a tank failure as this would confirm its effectiveness. Unit installed on a high efficiency gas powered tank for residential use
