Wonderful feature for the busy kitchen!
This is a great Product for those who use their mixer often. I bought this so my wife and I wouldn't have to lug the KitchenAid out of the pantry. We were building a new kitchen island and decided to incorporate this into the design. Glad we did. Please note, the minimum width cabinet this will fit in (and even then the cabinet needs some modification) is 15 inches. I had to notch the left-and-right stiles for a small part of the mechanism to clear, but it's covered up by the door when its lowered and put away (see pic). Also, the base I made to accommodate the mixer is only approx 1/8" wider than the mixer base, on each side. I made the base from one of my wife's TV dinner trays (lol) and it worked perfect. Mounting it was an excercise in patience for my ADD, but it turned out great. I added 3 wooden "cleats" around the base to keep it in place. See the picture. Also, the weight of this mixer prompted me to adjust the spring tension to the highest level. It is now a breeze to pull this up and click it into place. I chose to plug it in from outside the island, as I didn't want to risk leaving it plugged in inside the cabinet and have kids/grandkids accidentally engage it. All-in-all, a bit pricey, but well worth it to my wife and I.

Nice lift and very strong.
Product is strong and well built. I forgot that the cabinet has to be a full base cabinet with no draw above it. After installing mine, it didn't go all the up and lock because of the drawer cross bar. I'll keep the lift and use it in a different cabinet. Too nice to return.
